Yumm....chhocolate... and what's better than chocolate, FREE chocolate! and just as good as chocolate? ICE CREAM! So before going into the dining parlor side, we HAD to go into the store where we were greeted with a free sample of the peppermint bark. I look forward to the winter holiday season just for this chocolate! I got the dark chocolate sundae-Chocolate Mint. It came with a scoop of chocolate, scoop of mint chocolate, layered with dark chocolate hot fudge syrup and topped with whipped cream and a dark chocolate square. I didn't really read the description well so I thought it was both scoops of mint chocolate. And then, while I was eating it, I realized how much fudge was in the cup so I didn't really enjoy that too much. Still, I always enjoy the yummy-ness of the chocolate and a must visit whenever I'm in Down Town Disney. #Yelp 365 Challenge - 119/365

Oh life is too short for the exquisite tortures of Downtown Disney. Middle of the week in October and parking was a nightmare. I'd rather put a pencil in my eye... Went to the Ghirardelli store. LOVE the original in San Fran. This is like going to the SF version's closet with folks trying to exit the Titanic. The crowds were enough to make me confess anything. Wanted to go to the soda fountain, but gave up. Then went to the side just selling chocolate. I guess my competitive urges got the best of me. In reality, I could have just saved time, money, and blood pressure by going to a corner pharmacy chain to get the same thing.

Oh my chocolate!! You can smell the cones from yards away and you can even see the line from yards away. This place is exactly what you expect it to be: amazing chocolates and ice cream. We got the Espresso Escape which was amazingly sweet. Too decadent for one person but perfect for 2-3 to share. Worth the calories if you're willing to gain them!

Absolutely love this place! The only downside is that it can get busy, and you can be waiting for your order for awhile. But if you get a nice patio table near the water, its not a bad wait. The warm cookie sundae or warm brownie sundae is always my fav to get.

    (4)
  • Joe K.

Be prepared to wait but well worth it.So much to choose from and I ordered a vanilla milkshake with cream that was thicker than the ice cream itself.that was $7.00. Next time I will try the hot fudge sundae. I think if you sit at one of the tables inside or out you might have a better experience. The waitstaff will deliver to your table without have to stand at the counter while they yell out your number. You can't go wrong with the atmosphere in Downtown Disney either.

I have a weakness... its chocolate... and Ice Cream. Okay, two weaknesses. What a better place to satisfy both of them at the same time than at Ghirardelli! I have strolled by this place a million times while visiting Down Town Disney but never really went inside because it was too busy but yesterday, we had dinner at Earl of Sandwich (FABULOUS!) and then was walking by Ghirardelli and there was no line! We went in and the smell of sweetness hits you! We looked over the menu and decided to have the intense dark! Chocolate ice cream with dark chocolate fudge, whipped cream, dark chocolate things on top and a square of Ghirardelli chocolate to top it off. The cashier was friendly and fast. We had to wait about 3 or 4 min for our number to be called. The worker who handed us our ice cream seemed tired and overworked. I would have hated to see him on a busy day. I would have given the place 5 stars but due to the lack of smiles from the workers (except the cashier) and that normally the line is out the door on most days, the ice cream is worth the wait. I say give it a try the next time you are in down town Disney and need a sugar fix. Enjoy!

Cheapest snack on Disney property, I'm sure: you can order a single waffle cone with no ice cream, and it's only $1.60 with tax. They'll even dip it in chocolate for you -- and you can order it from the "chocolate shop" side of the store, which has only a comparatively limited menu. Consider that you'll also be handed a free piece of chocolate as soon as you walk in, and this is a downright bargain. You don't have to pay for parking, either. Which is good, because it'll take you 20 minutes to walk here from the nearest available parking space on a busy night.

I'd make love to the Sea Salt Caramel Hot Cocoa from Ghirardelli if I could! Seriously, I would! Just like all the other Ghirardelli shops I have been too, this one gets five stars. Delicious sundaes and ice cream, check! Amazing milkshakes and hot chocolates, check! Tasty baked goods, check! My favorite chocolate in the world, check! This place is a sweet lovers paradise. While at WDW my wife and I came here twice. The first time we ordered a Rocky Road Sundae and a Sea Salt Caramel Hot Cocoa and the second time we just got some Sea Salts to go. Both times the service was fantastic and the treats were phenomenal. I'm sure everyone has been to a Ghirardelli shop before but if you haven't tried their Sea Salt Caramel Hot Cocoa before then you need to get off your butt and do so. It's heavenly.

The best ice cream in the area. We go to Ghirardelli almost every other weekend. Can't get enough of their Sundae's. The service has always been great, they are very receptive to their guests. Their Warm Brownie Sundae is our favorite, just speaking about it makes me want to drive there. I have never seen it empty but they have many tables outside or you can walk around Downtown Disney.

Never underestimate the amount of demand for ice cream generated by 93° weather in a theme park. The front of the shop is an unorganized morass of cash registers and lines order and pay (how about a single line, guys?). The back of the shop is an unorganized morass where a few dozen people mill around while waiting for the ice cream to come out. Come on guys. You can do better than this. The espresso chip ice cream I had was about what I expected... good coffee flavor and the right amount of chips. The waffle cone was better, and the fact it was dipped in real Ghiradelli chocolate, even better. Definitely a worthy place to go to cool off for a bit.

The world famous ice cream melts down. While it's chocolate stays sweet, it's ice cream world goes downhill a year and a half later. Frozen crystals in a friends sundae, ice cream in a plastic disposable cup (instead of the big glass sundae cup), and they removed a lot of favorite flavors from the famous menu. If something works right before, then don't change it. They did it anyway. If you came during February 2013, it's way different in July 2014.

I smell Chocolate...wafting thru Downtown Disney...beguiling chocolate smell...where could it be coming from...Oh here it is :-) Ghirardeli! It is the smell of hot chocolate piped out of building drawing all chocolate lovers...oh yeah, and they have Ice Cream too...plenty of choices. There will probably be a long line, at the end of which you can request a free sample of chocolate and place your order. The cones and shakes and chocolate sundaes are all quite large portions. The ice cream is refreshing and the hot chocolate is very good. This is on Disney property, so prices are accordingly inflated. If you find yourself at Downtown Disney, this is a worthwhile stop for a tasty treat on a hot afternoon or a late night desert after you have walked off your dinner from one of the many restaurants.

We entered on the drinks side and the service was SLOOOWWW and nothing was appealing, so took our business through the separate door to the ice cream side, where the host-like order taker was friendly and happy to finish out multiple DIsney giftcards on a single order. Went with the Midnight Reverie with spicy fudge (instead of dark fudge), which wasn't terrible (but WAS egregiously overpriced), but Ghirardelli has always been overpriced and underflavorful especially given the trans fats. They were on the verge of closing but didn't kick us out so that's a plus.

HNNNNNG. My friend Megan and I came here after sitting out on the waterfront stage watching our school's freshman orchestra perform. I think it was the smell of the freshly made waffle bowls that did us in. Yup. That was it. I ordered a scoop of cookies & cream ice cream with dark chocolate hot fudge and marshmallow cream. Megan ordered a scoop of mint chocolate chip and chocolate chip on a waffle cone. Both were delicious and satisfying after sitting in the hot sun for 20 minutes. CALORIES GALORE.

Wow, a wonderful taste of San Francisco at Disney and on the east coast. As you enter the abundant aromas of chocolate delight begin to take over and every sensory molecule in your body goes into high gear. With your neurons already firing at an alarming rate you're then offered a sample to further elevate your pulse rate which now brings you nearing to passing out from pure joy. Okay, well it's a big yes that I'm a true and pure chocoholic, lol. We exited the retail side and re-entered into the ice-cream / soda fountain side of their establishment. Now experiencing tremors from the momentary withdrawal since the sample only wets one's pallet the desire drives one's pulse rate even higher. If you're lucky there'll be a small line to slow your arrival at the register as there's so much to consider; which ice-cream flavor, which syrup, which topping, how many scoops? Oh so many choices but yet I have to decide upon only one for this trip. Thank goodness for the paper menus they have when you enter for you can drool over the descriptions while waiting in line as you attempt to even come close to deciding upon that one dish to order and feed the addiction. Heaven forbid there's no line and you walk right up to the register for the world is then a blur for your mind can quickly be overwhelmed with all the choices while yet processing the increasing aromas and visual stimulation. The host welcoming you seems to have become immune to it all and that's a good thing as they are then able to help guide your decision on which item, or items as it relates to me, will satisfy my cravings. Your order is placed and you're then handed a table topper number for they bring the creation to your table, what service. Every ounce of my inner child comes out as I await the goodness that I know is coming my way as I wiggle about my chair in anticipation. Finally with a smile from the host my delight arrives and I waste no time diving right in. Each bite brings back both memories of my childhood and also of San Francisco where we've spent many drooling moments visiting Ghirardelli. The craving is becoming irresistible just sitting here writing this review and I see (and feel) another trip to this Ghirardelli location coming again soon and a wonderful relationship developing as I hope my presence is seen there often. Darn you Ghirardelli for creating such tempting sensations for every bite I take I love you more!

Ghirardelli does chocolate right. They have tons of cashiers but that doesn't stop it from getting super crowded. It tastes delicious and it is chocolate. Do you need to know more? I have nothing new to offer that hasn't already been said-- high prices, long waits, very busy. If you don't expect these things going to a place like Downtown Disney, you're probably an idiot.

So... I guess there are two entrances to this place? I went in through the right entrance which featured a small retail shop and a counter where you can order items to eat on the spot. The place was crammed with people and no one could tell me if there was any kind of an orderly line to get to the counter, because after you wait 1/2 hour in this unofficial line to order, at the counter there aren't any menus? I only saw coffee drinks - but someone was making waffle cones... but I didn't see anything but brownies and coffee drinks. The brownies were already made and sitting in a case, and since I didn't see anything about these sundaes that everyone is raving about, I decided that instead, all I would get was one brownie. But the cashier for some odd reason couldn't grab a brownie and drop it in a bag and get me out of there, she handed me number. Then I realized that the half of the people in the retail store were waiting for their orders to be called. So I wait for another 20-25 minutes (no shit I was really in there THAT long surrounded by gawky teenagers and fat midwesterners in stained polo shirts) and when they finally call my number, someone hands me a brownie - from the case - in a paper envelope and says "oh, do you want that heated?" Rather than wait another 20 minutes I just took the brownie and split. And after all of that... the brownie was a bit too dense and sweet for my taste. And THEN I saw people with sundaes... ?

super packed when you first walk in to order and waiting to pick up your order. there isn't AC in this area so its super hot!!!!! but their classic hot chocolate was good and their white chocolate mocha was decent.

  • Renaud F.

The ice cream itself is amazing. The experience getting it is not. The inside of the store is very hot with poor ventilation. The employees seem to be struggling with the heat in the ICE CREAM store. If you have every seen the soup Nazi on Seinfeld and you walk into the store you are not far from the episode but you will get your cone.

This was the first time that I was disappointed here. They got our order wrong twice, were very slow in fixing it both times, and no one was very friendly. For the prices you pay for ice cream sundae's, it should be right and with friendly service. The ice cream was delicious as always but the price seems to be getting a little extreme.

Since there's no Starbucks in Downtown Disney, I resorted to Ghirardelli to satisfy my chocolate/coffee craving. I decided on the Cafe Mocha and it was sublime. The perfect balance of chocolate and coffee. What I really liked about it was that it wasn't (unreasonably) piping hot. One of the worst feelings in the world is the feeling of a burnt tongue, and I was able to gulp my coffee down in about 2 minutes without being in excruciating pain. Kudos for serving coffee at a practical temperature and double kudos for making it so yummy! Note to Hawaii entrepreneurs: Bring down Ghirardelli :) I want a cafe mocha, and I want it yesterday!

We stopped by here on a Thursday night and boy was this place crowded! Luckily, they have an efficient set up and we didn't have to wait long to place our order. We ordered the brownie sundae with one scoop of coffee ice cream and one scoop of vanilla ice cream. Our order was promptly produced and before we knew it, we were diving into chocolately goodness! First off, who doesn't like a warm brownie and ice cream?? For the price, however, I was a little disappointed in the size of the brownie (it was probably a 2x1 1/2 rectangle piece placed on the side of our ice cream to-go cup. The ice cream itself was a nice, rich and creamy treat. We scooped off a bunch of the whipped cream because neither my friend or I are big fans of whipped cream (honestly, I believe it's just a waste of calories). And the cherry, well, we gave it to our friend who is a big fan of them. Ghirardelli does produce some excellent chocolate, but their sundaes can't compete with some of the ice cream shops I have visited in the past. It's a nice treat in the hot weather, but don't expect anything spectacular - it's just slightly better than average desserts that are slightly overpriced because of the name brand and its touristy location.

Ou, so good... what?!? How much?!? I would be a fan of this place if everything was not so expensive. Sure they give out samples of the chocolate squares for free... but if you buy a small package of 20 squares, be ready to shell out about $1.50 per square. I usually stop by for a drink here to satisfy my chocolate fix. Being the most crowded Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop, I'd rather go to the one located 1000 miles closer to my home.

I'm actually kind of torn about my rating. I considered a 2-star but ultimately I would go back. So it's got to be positive. I've been here twice. It's always a zoo. Lots of tourists as you would expect in DT Disney. The first time I went, I ordered, got my number and sat down at a table outside. My companions had ordered separately but at the same time. Their ice creams came out and I still sat there. After waiting a bit longer, I finally I got mine but apparently they had been walking around looking for me. The hot fudge was no longer hot and had re-solidified. At these prices, I want warm fudge. I flagged down a waitress and she knew the issue and brought out a new one really quickly. Positive ending. The second time I went, I ordered, got my number and sat down at a table outside. My companion ordered a drink but got it "to-go." Which means he had to wait inside until they called his number. We he realized his mistake, he asked one the waiters if he could switch to have them bring it to him. They told him no and that he would have to wait until the number was called. The numbers do not follow chronologically, they are based on cash register so there isn't a good measure of how long your wait will be. He got frustrated and came and sat at our table. When my ice cream was brought out I asked the waiter if he could just bring us a soda because my friend's been waiting forever to get a drink. I should him the receipt and he actually did bring it out. Positive ending. So overall, I've never had a great experience here. And I'm usually a little disappointed in the ice cream. But I can't say I wouldn't go back. It's a low 3 star for me.

Crazy busy, but that's to be expected. First come, first served on the tables. The food is awesome, if a tad pricey. But again it's at Disney, so the price is not shocking. The quality of the ice cream and toppings shows. I had the single-scoop waffle cone with chocolate ice cream and dark chocolate fudge topping. Ridiculously good. Others had the banana split and the chocolate chip cookie dough waffle cone. They'd get it again. We'd go back (or will go back) on our next trip to Orlando,

This store is really small with a small selection. But of course the deserts they make there are from their own chocolate, which is decent. I've had much better chocolate in my day, but their chocolate is fairly decent for main stream stuff in America.

    (3)
  • Ben K.

They have to maintain an allergy list because they are on Disney property. After consulting this list and the manager nobody could tell me if the nuts and cherry are gluten free. They also could not tell me if the chocolate square was gluten free. Basic items like these should be safe but the inability to answer caused me not to order items other stores in this chain had no problem handling safely. Ice cream took over 30 minutes after ordering. One item in our order left off toppings that should have been included. There was no order to the processing of orders. The easy ones came out first in minutes. The most damning issue was I was told to order the ingredients that were unknown as safe, on the side. WTF?

Lured by the smell of waffle cones cooking we followed our noses to Ghirardelli's ice cream shop in Downtown Disney. You can watch through large windows while they make waffle cones, dip them in chocolate and create ice cream masterpieces. There were a lot of people milling around trying to decide what to order but no line. We ordered a brownie sundae in a waffle cone bowl then waited at the counter watching the workers make all sorts of ice cream concoctions. I must say that this might be THE BEST brownie sundae I've ever had. The brownie itself was absolutely amazing. It was warm, gooey and just melted in your mouth- like liquid chocolate. The vanilla ice cream was rich and smooth. The ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, almonds and cherries were perfect together. Prices are high but for this decadent indulgence totally worth it. I always say to make those calories count, so go ahead and splurge! You expect places like this to be more hype that substance but Ghirardelli lived up to its hype!

Excellent place to go for dessert when you're already in the area. If it's really crowded and there's nowhere to sit, you can always get it "to go" and chill elsewhere in Downtown Disney. If it's not too bad, you can sit outside to enjoy the nice weather, or sit inside if it's too hot. It's Ghirardelli, so whatever you get, it's pretty much guaranteed that you're going to like it. Provided you're actually a fan of their chocolates, etc. If you're not, then you have no business being here in the first place. The only issue with getting your dessert there is the wait time. After you order, pay and get your number, it can take up to 30 mins for them to give you your order. People around us were getting really restless and bordering on pissed off considering they're supposed to be in the "Happiest Place on Earth". As a plus, at the chocolate shop you can always get a piece for free. We always make sure to stop by and get the free piece whenever we stop by Downtown Disney for whatever reason.

A welcome respite from a hot and sticky few days in Disney proper. After schlepping through EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom we decided to take off and head back to our hotel. We weren't ready to leave the Orlando area and decided to take the riverboat from Port Orleans - Riverside to Downtown Disney to get some ice cream. Luckily, we got there early enough that Ghiradelli wasn't too crowded (it was only about 2pm, so I imagine most people were still at the parks). It is like an ice cream factory - set up to move both ice cream and people in and quickly out of the facility. In typical Disney fashion, there are corrals with 4-5 registers, you read the menu, place the order, get a number, sit down, and wait for your ice cream to be delivered. The selections are intense and all cost upwards of $8, but it is a decadent treat, and, in my opinion, worth it. The ice cream comes out quickly. My only disappointment is that they are delivered in plastic cups. Totally makes sense, but kind of not what I imagined for "ice cream parlor" and imagery on the menu.

  • Henry S.

This was a little taste of "home" while we were here in Florida. We could actually go to the original Ghiradelli store in Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco but when my wife saw it we had to get a Sunday. Yes, its over priced (about $10) but so worth it when its hot and humid.

No doubt this is heaven for many people. I ordered one scope of the coffee or espresso ice cream with dark chocolate fudge and nuts. That thing was sooooooooooooo small in a cup. How sad! I went to get dreyer's ice cream afterwards for two scoop on a candycane cone and the price was almost the same! The only thing I liked is the fact they have so many variety and have dark chocolate. I mean the ice cream wasn't bad, but the quality of the fudge wasn't great, too thick, and dried up so quick! The price is a bit much for the portion. I would recommend you getting it in a cone.

  • Adam S.

Went here when we were in Downtown Disney for a day. I ordered the banana hot fudge sundae, which was alright. I think I needed to get something with a little more oomph. It was very timid. My friend got another sundae, and he liked it. Service was very good, the guy at the counter had a good sense of humor, and the ice cream came out fast and cold. Overall, definitely stop by Ghirardelli at Downtown Disney for a good, cold snack.

This place looked crowded but we were in the mood for ice cream and figured it must be a popular place. There's no clear line to stand in so you have to crowd in with everyone else at the door. A staff person hands out free samples while you wait in line but she kept letting people in the back rush up and take them all so she ran out by the time we waited in line and reached her. She did refill and offered us samples. They were delicious! So it turns out there are two different Ghiradelli stores back to back. We got in line for the beverage shop, not the ice cream one. We waited so long we decided to go with beverages instead. We ordered a shake, chocolate croissant, and a hot chocolate. The croissant came with a free coffee, but they wouldn't let us substitute the hot chocolate and pay the difference. They told us to wait off to the side to wait for our order, but we turned around and couldn't move an inch because it was so crowded. After 45 minutes in the store, they told us they didn't have any chocolate croissants. We cut our losses and asked for a refund. They didn't want to refund since they said our order (just a shake and coffee!) was finally ready, but they did produce a refund after another five minutes or so. For a place that's supposed to be fun, none of the customers looked happy. The place is super busy and the staff can't keep up at all. It could be so much better if someone could figure out how to make it more organized and efficient, such as signs, stanchions, and staff directing people. Also, staff need more training to prepare drinks more quickly and keep things moving.

The smell is what brought us here. There is nothing like the smell of waffle cones. Lordy, lordy. We got a white chocolate mocha and it was right on the lines with Starbucks. Perfect! The lines are long, but it was worth the wait.

Premium chocolate and scrumptious ice cream. Are you kidding me? Who wouldn't love this place?! Okay--maybe a dentist. But even dentists take Disney vacations, so they should love this place, too. Back in my impoverished college days, Downtown Disney was a pretty fun place to hang out on Saturday evenings. Inevitably, someone in my group would insist on going inside to grab free pieces of chocolate. Behold the brilliance of Disney: the free square of Ghirardelli chocolate is like the cheese on the mousetrap. Once you're inside the shop--SNAP!--you find yourself uncontrollably forking over eight bucks for the "world famous" hot fudge sundae. Yes, magic happens at Disney: you will find yourself approximately 2 pounds heavier upon leaving this irresistible chocolate heaven.

  • David L.

I am not sure what the big deal is at this place. The line is long and the wait also. Honestly, maybe I ordered the wrong dessert but I had better elsewhere for cheaper. They do have a large selection to choose from. Overall, it's decent but not worth the wait for.

  • Karen W.

Yeah, I am fan .... who couldnt be after knowing the Ghirardelli name & smell of that YUUMY chocolate that they have!!! My husband and I had to visit this place a couple of times - well, we knew they were giving out free samples of their chocolate!! We also stopped in for some coffee on the last night we were in town. Yummy!! I noticed there were several others sitting around us (outside) that were enjoying their desserts. I was so tempted to get one, but the way were eating that week (on the Disney Plan), this was completely out of the question! Anywho ...... LOVE this place!!

Came here three times just to ask if they had a certain item.. the wait was over 20 minutes and the line didn't move. It wasn't this bad last year when we visited. If they had AC on and it wasn't so hot inside we would have waited a little longer.

Never a disappointment. My standard: One scoop (somehow in my mind that justifies the billion calories that I'm going to consume) dark chocolate hot fudge sundae with chocolate chip ice cream. If you didn't get it before, then I will repeat those 4 vital words: Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge....

    (4)
  • Joseph W.

A great facsimile of the one in San Francisco. The ice cream menu is essentially exactly the same, down to the world-famous Earthquake Sundae (ate one of those with 4 other guys back in High School.) We came here for dessert after eating at Earl of Sandwich. The two places make a perfect combination: EOS doens't have any real spectacular desserts IMHO, and Ghirardelli does. I got the Espresso Escape (espresso chip ice cream with dark chocolate fudge topping) and my wife got the Strike it Rich (Butterscotch hot fudge sundae.) While the espresso chip ice cream is AWESOME, I think that, overall, the Strike It Rich is the better sundae. Next time, I'll combine the two and get a Strike it Rich with espresso chip ice cream FTW. If you're not familiar with Ghirardelli ice cream shops, this is a great place to start. If you've been to others, I assure you this location does not disappoint.....except in one respect: -1 star for having a lame attached chocolate shop. The one at this location sucks compared to the others that I have been to. Even so, you still need to try this place.

The banana split was AWESOME! I've been craving some more ever since. I put hot fudge and butterscotch on mine instead of the chocolate syrup and pineapple option.

Very Sinful...LoL Ok I have to admit that I wasn't the biggest Disney an until last year and being that this Fountain shop was in downtown disney I never bothered with it. That was a mistake. Ghirardelli's is hand down the best ice cream shop I have ever been to. Rich, sinful, and just simply awesome. Do yourself a favor and visit this place whenever your in Orlando.

  • Leslie S.

We love ghiradelli and look forward to this every trip to Orlando. The restaurant was packed so it was difficult to find a seat. People were circling the tables like vultures. I love how the store separated for drinks and ice cream. It seemed to make the ordering process quicker. They were giving samples of the salted caramel chocolate bar, which was much appreciated during the wait. The sundaes are delicious, but very pricey. We figured a way to save a little money for our family of 4. We split 2 sundaes, which was plenty and ordered ala carte 2 scoops of ice cream plus hot fudge and whipped cream, which was a couple of bucks cheaper than the actual sundae. We just didn't get nuts or a cherry. It's the best chocolate around!

  • K K.

I only give three stars cause they are always so busy & there prices are a little high. Overall, I like it. My family & I always share whatever we get as they are huge servings, even for the kids. We love going into the store to get our free chocolate, but the store is so small & always crowded with lines going everywhere. The store should only be for items purchased in the store, not to also order (that should be for the other side).

Usually this place is amazing. They took off my fav sundae...the fog cutter. We had the peridiso passion which was strawberry instead of raspberry. It was good! Def worth a try

  • Bradford G.

Delicious ice cream. Ask for the Fog Horn, not on the menu, but my favorite. You can eat inside or outside across the way.

  • Kat L.

What's not to love? If you can dream it, they can do it. Take out, stand around and wait for your order. Stay and take a number and they will deliver your dessert to your table. Quality chocolate topping your ice cream. Quality ice cream to obsess over. I got a scoop of chocolate, a scoop of vanilla covered in marshmallow cream, and almonds :) heaven. Apparently they have banana splits here and they don't in san francisco. But I cant believe that. I really cant. But maybe... Its expensive. About $7 per person.. maybe more. But worth ever last lactose intolerant drop.

  • Harry E.

Had an outstanding chocolate shake here. Wasn't cheap; but hardly anything in Disney World ever is. So I'm OK with that. My problem was that I had to wait forever for it, even though it wasn't crowded. Hence "only" the 4 star rating.

  • Ryan N.

I'm not sure if it is the ooey gooey goodness of the fattening Ice Cream or the oh so-good free chocolate squares that keep me coming back, but I seem to find myself here a lot! Yes, you do become a part of a cattle call, fighting your way through a sea of hungry people to claim your prize, but it is well worth it. If you are claustrophobic or don't do well with large crowds, I might steer clear of this location. But there's enough incentive to get over your mediocre hardship and get some goodness!

  • Thai Y.

Never disappoints. Chocolate, ice cream delights. Fave spot at Disney.

    (4)
  • Mandy C.

Way to crowded and over-hyped. There are some unique, sinfully combinations; however, I think this place get more credit than it deserves, probably since it is located at downtown Disney. If it were located somewhere else in Orlando it would not be very popular. So overall, I was not impressed considering that it is just ice cream that I have tasted better. Plus it was so busy, and a bit pricey.

  • Bryan D.

Their shakes are great, but be aware that if its not very hot outside, it will take a while to drink a shake. They're more of soft serve consistency than a shake. Also, they have the cheapest straws I have ever seen. My wife got fed up trying to drink her shake after about 45 minutes and being able to get two sips and just threw it out. It tasted great, but the straw just collapsed every attempt of a sip and when there was any liquid that might come up, a chunk of chocolate would clog the straw. I would go back in july, but not when the temp is 65* or colder.

Despite the long lines, it is worth going to Ghirardelli. The chocolate fudge is amazing! I had the decadent hot chocolate last time I went and it was so smooth and strong. No one can beat the free samples!

WOW!! Fun atmosphere and great ice cream selections and flavors. My kiddos luv this place, after running around WDW all day long a nice slow leisurely stroll along the Downtown Disney area is just what the doctor ordered. Top it off with a ice cream float served by your friendly soda-jerk this place is the bomb, my kids' words, not mine. I enjoy this place because you are in the heart of the Downtown Disney area which is a great place to sit, enjoy your ice cream and people watch. We usually bring home some chocolate bars or syrup to enjoy later. This is a really fun place to visit.

  • timm s.

The atmosphere is not as good as the original in San Francisco ..... but it is a CLOSE second. The ice cream and chocolate are DELICIOUS!! It is a bit of a shock to pay $11 for a sundae..... but it is worth every penny. You will be scrapping the bowl for every last drop. I like to get a scoop of ice cream with melted dark chocolate and melted peanut butter. HEAVEN.......... Enjoy.

some of the best ice cream i have had...

    (5)
  • Shelly S.

The vanilla ice cream in both our orders had ice crystals in it! Yuck. It was way overpriced for what you get. I did not like my hot fudge sundae. The hot fudge was thick and chewy like you would get at the grocery store, the cheap stuff. My daughter got the banana split and only liked the chocolate ice cream because it had a better chocolate sauce topping than the hot fudge. There really is no excuse for freezer burn for these prices. We only ate half and felt ripped off. I love their chocolate squares, but I will not be back for more ice cream ever.

The Ghirardelli experience was a terrible ending to a great day. We ordered two sundaes (one brownie sundae, one caramel). It was busy, but I didn't think it was crazy busy. We sat at the table and waited for 12 minutes. No one came. We asked what was going on, the staff member said 12 minutes were indeed a pretty long time for that restaurant, but said we should wait a little more. 5 minutes later our sundeas were ready. Well actually they probably have been ready for a while, because the ice cream had melted almost completely. I tasted ghirardelli's caramel sauce before and loved it, but this particular sauce was so weak I could hardly taste it. It's basically a lot of plain vanilla (and not a very good one). It was not good. My husband's brownie Sundae (which again, was more of a milkshake than a sundae) was supposed to have hot fudge on it, but the fudge was cold. We think this place is very overrated. The sundaes may look good, but that's about it. Get a ben and jerry's at the supermarket.

Any place where you walk in the door and they give you a free piece of chocolate = AMAZING! And I know they do this at every location, but it is still better here in Orlando!! And what makes it even better is that the flavor changes all the time. Christmas time they had peppermint bark, last time they had a caramel filled milk chocolate... Delicious!! And i haven't even gotten to the fountain side yet. Moving over there, three words can sum up my entire life...COOKIE BOTTOM SUNDAE! I am in love and that is all that there is to it. Chocolate chip cookie and ice cream. Downtown Disney is always a great place to sit outside and watch, study, and maybe even judge the species known as the Disney tourist. And doing that while having ice cream makes the experience 10 times better! Only problem is that it is always so busy, lines are long, but it is totally worth the wait.

    (4)
  • Hannah B.

Great cookies! The line was out the door for ice cream, so I'm sure it's good as well but we went for a cookie. I got the chocolate chip but the clerk let me taste a bite of toffee crunch. I think I will be getting that next time. You definitely need some help eating the HUGE cookie.

I LOVE Ghirardelli chocolate! It was definitely time to indulged. This is located in Disney's Downtown Market Place on the water with a nice view of Disney World. They carry sweets that no other retailer carries including the impossible to find. The ice cream clearly hits the spot. The world of Ghirardelli is wondrous. Sweets are comfort food.

If you are in Orlando... and you have the need and/or crave to get some delicious ice cream on a fresh waffle cone, especially if you want chocolate ice cream.... this is the place to go... don't bother going anywhere else... Is not cheap... the lines and wait can be long... and usually there is no place to sit inside... but... the flavor and size of the treats more than makes up for the wait... and having to sit outside (plenty of sittting areas outside). If you really want to make your experience even better... make sure to add a brownie to your waffle cone ice cream... but only do this if you really like rich chocolate flavor... because these brownies are very dense. You can also get coffee and hot-coco... but we usually just go for ice cream and chocolate treats.

  • Chanel A.

I love their ice cream and waffle cones! Theyre to die for! Of course this place is always packed because it's in Downtown Disney but it's well worth the crowd and wait. They have ample seating. There is also the store side that is separate from the dine in side. You can order a few menu items while making your purchases, but for the full menu you have to go to the dine in side.

If you are in Downtown Disney with the kids and the in-laws ... this is a perfect place to go to spend some time together. If you are caught in an afternoon rain shower while strolling along, this is a great place to go to enjoy a little of life's many pleasures while staying dry. If you want some yummy ice cream with fantastic dark chocolate fudge, look no further, you have arrived. There is limited seating, so it can get tough to get a spot if it is crowded. And it is not cheap. However, you may want to share since they give large portions, even for the kids.

    (4)
  • Bill H.

The sundaes are delicious. a very efficient process to move customers through quickly. Seating is limited and can be difficult to find a spot. We ended up finding a seat on some planters outside.

  • Ryan W.

Chocolate overkill. I wanted ice cream. What I got was a hot fudge sunday with a warm chocolate chip cookie at the bottom. Every bite of it was delicious and chocolatey, to be expected from a place that smells like chocolate! This is definitely the place to go in Disney if you want a decadent, overly chocolate dessert. Perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. I would recommend the hot chocolate, whenever I go there someone in my group gets it and likes it but I always go with the ice cream sundaes.

If I were to pick one thing that I couldn't live without, it would definitely be chocolate....and if I were allowed to be picky about it, well then, it would have to be Ghiradelli chocolate. With the countless varieties of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, plus the myriad of possible fillings - caramel, fruit, nuts - you could never get bored! But wait! Yes, it does get better! Ghiradelli even has the answer to your thirst, with drinking chocolates and cocoas, plus baking mixes to create outrageous rich brownies and cookies. For an more indulgent treat, try the ice cream and soda fountain on the left side. My favorite item blends chocolate, soda and lots and lots of sugar, in the 'not in the menu but definitely ready to be ordered' chocolate soda. Try it! Man alive... In fact, we just moved out of town this weekend, but a trip to the shop was a must-do before leaving. Right now, if you stop in, there is a pumpkin spice caramel sample that is out of this world.

I love Ghiradhelli, but this place isn't really laid back. There are sometimes too many people. It's hard to find a table sometimes. The food is amazing. Ice Cream is awesome choose any sundae and you will be satisfied. I love all of them! Chocolate fudge is amazing, try the intense ones if you love dark chocolate. Hot chocolate is very good try the salted ones. It's worth the price for the chocolate and ice cream!

    (4)
  • Kelly W.

I love the vanilla ice cream and coffee there. Huge portion sundae~ but I almost finish them all I wish Ghirardelli would open a store in NY soon

  • Earl K.

Thursday, around 11 pm, last night of vacation before going home. You NEED to grab a sundae no matter what the line looks like right? Well the line is deceptively long because there are so many registers to take your order once you get inside. My wife and son shared the Mint Bliss while my daughter and I shared the World Famous. What a relief on that hot, humid August night and what a great way to put the proverbial cherry on this trip!

Expensive and a bit busy, but worth it. Not many places make their style of ice cream, it's a good place for a quick eat (and it fills you up too). But being in Florida you have to eat it quick before it melts!

I was drawn into this shop by the offering of a free Ghirardelli sample from a nice woman outside. Once inside the shop I was on the hook and couldn't resist ordering the Double Chocolate Brownie. As a sweets and chocolate lover it takes a lot for me to consider something "rich" - but that brownie was delicious. I ended up sitting down outside on the bench and people-watched while I took my time enjoying the flavors.

So, I went to Orlando last weekend and my sister dragged me back here (against my will?) after my mom mentioned this place (when I told her not to). After dealing with the suffocating madness of having to wait for goopy ice cream in a hot store surrounded (and squished) by 100 other people also waiting for their confections, I think my mom got the point and won't be bringing up this place ever again with my sister. I never thought this place could get more disorganized than it was the last time I went here, but Ghirardelli found a way. My mom was shocked and astounded, but I wasn't. After waiting for 15 minutes just to order ice cream, I waited another 20 minutes inside the ice cream parlor, being squished by 100 other people clutching their tickets and hoping that their number would be called next. Where is the crowd control here? Or efficiency? Or even air-conditioning? Goodness, I was melting as badly as the ice cream was. If you can't gulp down a sundae within 7 minutes of leaving the store, then you're left with goop soup. Fortunately, I had my sis and my mom to help me out, but we came terribly close to losing the sundae. The wait inside the store was unbearable. You'd think they would go in order when making the desserts. Noooo. They pick and choose the easiest one to make or pick ones at random, because the numbers they call out resemble less an assembly line and more a bingo match. (Okay! Next number: 253, 279. 195. What the hell? I've got 285, when is my number up?). A word to the wise, if you choose to get your ice cream here and get it to go,make sure to hold it high in the air as you walk away from grabby hands, shoving hoards of pushy people and/or jealous customers who have waited too long for their desserts. Ye be warned.

Shared the banana split with my husband and 2 kids. Had this yummy pineapple sauce on the vanilla ice cream, the strawberry ice cream was so good had chunks of strawberries and the chocolate ice cream was so rich and creamy. The bananas were gone quick.

I love coming here and getting a waffle cone sundae. The prices are a little steep but it's always satisfying. The cookie dough ice cream is rich and delicious. I wish the caramel topping were a little thicker so it wouldn't run right off the ice cream, but still delightful.

  • Shawn H.

THE best place to get ice cream sundae. I had the mint bliss and made sure to sit as close to the defibrillator machine as possible. Let me tell you the time spent staring at the ceiling all hours of the night due to the sugar rush is well worth it. That creamy ice cream, blended with chocolate sauce, and a huge wedge of chocolate. I just stared at the ceiling thinking about my sugar high wishing I could sleep so I could ride all the roller coasters in the morning. Oh well, I guess some level of delirium is to be expected while vacationing in Disney world.

Obvious tourist trap, but damn they have some tasty treats. Definitely worth stopping and getting an ice cream or a float. There waffle cones are made fresh and really good.

Ermagherd! The best ice cream sundae evvarrr. The prices are insanely high however a single Sunday will be more than enough for two adults and a small child. When I say their ice cream sundae is the best, I cannot possibly begin to describe how good it is. The fudge is the absolute smoothest that I have ever had any ice cream has the most flawless, exquisite example of perfection that you will ever taste. Be prepared for large crowds. This place is slammed every time we go. It does not matter the time of day or the type of weather. The line is typically out the door all. The. Time.

Place is more hyped than it is special. Doesn't mean it sucks- believe me- we ate our traditional brownie sundae up in a flash, however three caveats should be noted 1) it tasted good, 2) it was nearly 100 degrees out, 3) it cost as much as a large pizza. Not all that dissatisfied, because the hunch that this place was more fluff than substance was already looming, but I wouldn't try it again. Find a Bruster's and have a better product at half the price.

Aaaah!!! Ghirardelli, I love you!!! You're the one and only one!!!! You are the best!!! Only you, Guirardelli World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae, can make me crosstown on I-4 in the middle of the rain and heavy traffic because a tourist GPS"ed to the ditch! Only you, only you can make me brake a $20, just to have you!!! :-)

Can I tell y'all that I have dreams about this place??? I ordered a brownie sundae and I've never had anything like it in my life. Yeah, that's right, a brownie sundae! We walked up to the register, placed our order, and got our number. We proceeded to wait in anticipation at the counter with everyone else. I was in awe at how good everything looked that passed over the counter to each customer. We finally got ours and could not wait to dig in. It was a brownie sundae parfait in a cup. It took the two of us to finish it off after fighting over it, but it was so worth it. Yep, I'm salivating as I write this review.

Fast, service. Yummy sundaes. Efficient premises. Downtown Disney. There, I summed up what I could honestly say was one of the most delicious sundaes I've had in a really long time. Mind you, I don't often eat a lot of ice cream (I'm a cookie gal, myself). But the Strawberry Hot Fudge Vanilla Ice Cream Sundae hit the spot. Topped with a chocolate covered strawberry. 2 and a 1/2 people shared this sundae - my toddler is the 1/2 and we still couldn't finish it. It towers over the lip of what looks like a 20 oz. cup. DO NOT order one sundae for yourself unless you're capable of eating an entire pint of ice cream in one sitting. You have been warned.

  • Nancee M.

Price is definitely a factor when chosing to purchase a sundae or even candy but the taste is what makes it worth it. However my review is not on the taste of the product but on the customer service we received. We were pleasantly greeted by the cashier and welcomed but when we wanted to order the Gold Rush Sundae we were informed that they were no longer offering it and that it was removed from the menu about 2 weeks ago. If that is the case than why is it still on the menu and also streaming on the TV above the registers? I know this is not the cashiers fault but this puts her in an awkward position. We settled on the Sea Salt Caramel Sundae and proceeded to our seats. After we waited for a few minutes our sundae was brought out by a not so friendly employee who said not a word to us and just set our order down with a frown on her face and then noticing we had gotten our own spoons grabbed the ones she brought for us and walked away without an enjoy your ice cream or anything. Not feeling very warm and fuzzy at all.

Overrated. I never really understood the overwhelming popularity of this place -- sure, it smells great, but the lines out the door are not inviting. The sundaes are overpriced and not particularly special - I tried the brownie sundae, which was really no better than a similar sundae you'd find on the dessert menu at TGI Fridays, Applebee's, or any other mid-priced chain. I think Disney-run ice cream shops (Beaches n Cream, Plaza Ice Cream Parlor) offer much more delicious and inventive sundaes without nearly as much hassle. And as others have noted, Ghirardelli no longer offers peanut/peanut butter items yet their menus have not been updated. I didn't find out until I tried to order the Gold Rush Sundae, which I saw advertised in several places in the shop. This is sloppy and inconsiderate -- why not at least place a simple sticker over the discontinued options? If you want a cold treat at DTD, stick with a Mickey Bar -- indulgent, delicious, and easily acquired for 4 bucks (no lines, no waiting).

Nothing goes better on a hot summer day than Ghirardelli icecream. Regardless of the weather this is a must in Downtown Disney.

  • John S.

While I'm not a big fan of sweets I absolutely love this place!! The sundaes are super-super tasty..... Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth the price even if you only try it once. They are typically very busy since Downtown Disney typically is, but it's worth the wait.

Ice cream!!! So I come here most of the time when I visit my relative in Florida. As I used to live in San Francisco and went to the original one all the time, so compare to the one at downtown Disney there was both up and down side. For the up side, you got to have your ice cream in a nice weather most of the times and there always something outside for you to see like concert and some nice relaxing music by the lake. However for the down side, the ice cream was serve in a plastic container. So it's different from San Francisco which they have a nice plate and cup for ice cream.

As a chocolate lover, it deeply pains me to not give this place 5 stars. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do.... Ok, so the amazing smell of chocolate immediately gets you when you're in the area of Ghiradelli. So, they got me. I'm a sucker for chocolate. When you enter, you are immediately greeted by a employee giving out little samples squares (yay!) and a huge crowd (nay). After waiting in a long line, you must make your decision. I decided to try the brownie. A whooping $5. It better be good. The verdict: brownie was nothing out of the ordinary. It was gooey and good, yeah, but I think I can make better brownies from those boxed things from the grocery store. A whole batch of those would cost me much less than this one piece. I also tried my friend's chocolate shake (not sure specifically which one it was). Again, it was good but not mind-blowing. I would never pay $8+ for that. Yes it was good but not great. Most definitely not worth the prices. But it's Ghiradelli, in Downtown Disney, so the prices will probably keep going up and the people will still keep buying. It is what it is.

It was hot. The line was long. I gave in to my 9 year old. We ordered a $35, 9 scoop, 14 topping sundae and it was worth it. There are 5 of us and we all got to try a little something. I think this could feed 7-9 easy. Only regret is there was a lot of waste. The look on the kids faces = priceless when the sundae came out. Definitely something little for the bucket list :)

This is always a "must stop" for us when we come to Downtown Disney. The hot fudge sundaes are the best and are big enough for two to share, but who want to do that?? My son had the butterscotch sundae this time and it was just as delicious. The sundaes are about $10 each. They have a nice selection of many favors and options. A must try!

Going to the Ghirardelli store in WDW's Downtown Disney district was a no-brainer decision. Even though we went to WDW during Christmas and did experience some cooler weather, we weren't about to pass up an opportunity to go to Ghirardelli ... especially because there aren't any stores in Hawaii and we weren't going to San Fran anytime soon. Because I had been to the Ghirardelli in DCA before, I was pretty familiar with the menu and what I wanted to order -- I already knew I wanted to get one of the "Colossal Cookies," which is one of my favorite cookies on earth. My family decided to split a few sundaes for an afternoon snack, which were enjoyed outside the ice creamery. I tried something new during this trip to Ghirardelli and ended up sharing one of the sundaes with my mom that I always wanted to try ... but never had the chance to. Here's what I would recommend: "Midnight Reverie": I got this sweet treat for the first time at this Ghirardelli shop. It features chocolate ice cream, freshly homemade dark chocolate hot fudge, semi-sweet chocolate chips and an Intense Dark Twilight Delight 72% Chocolate square. I split this decadent sundae with my mom (though I ended up eating most of it) and we got it sans the whipped topping. This one is a MUST for all chocolate lovers. The dark chocolate fudge, however, prevented the chocolaty sundae from being overwhelmingly sweet, though. I loved the sweetness from the chocolate ice cream and the added crunch and texture from the chocolate chips. I was so glad to finally try this sundae--I've had my eye on it for a while--and I would definitely order it again. "Colossal Ghirardelli Chocolate Chip Cookie": This large cookie that's studded with chocolate chips is my go-to snack in Disney's California Adventure, and I always get one to take with me whenever I have the chance to visit a Ghirardelli store. This cookie is probably one of the best chocolate chip versions that I've ever tasted. The cookie itself is soft, moist and chewy, and they don't skimp on the included chocolate chips. If I happen to be enjoying my treat right then and there (if I don't get a sundae), I gladly opt to have my snack warmed up. There's nothing better than biting into a molten-like, soft cookie with the chocolate chips dissolving in my mouth! I prefer getting this cookie solo than ordering it as part of one of the sundaes. "Nob Hob Chill": While I normally order one of the traditional sundaes on the menu, this milkshake sounds appetizing because it's described as "a sundae you can sip." It features two scoops of vanilla ice cream that's blended with homemade hot fudge and topped with semi-sweet chocolate chips. This shake sounds like the perfect blend of vanilla and chocolate, and I can't wait to taste it one day. Plus, the drink must be especially delightful with bursts of chunks from the chocolate chips. "Decadent Drinking Chocolate": I didn't even realize Ghirardelli offered drinking chocolate until I took a better look at the menu (I'm not sure if it's offered year-round or if it's a seasonal thing during the winter/holidays). It basically sounds like a rich, melted chocolate bar -- it's made with semi-sweet chocolate chips and packed with intense chocolate flavor. Since I have a pretty high tolerance for sweets, I don't think this drink would be overly sweet for me. I'm sure it's rich, smooth and velvety, perfect for warming up on a cold December night. "Espresso Escape": This is the other dark chocolate sundae that I had my eye on and it's one that I want to try on my next trip to Ghirardelli. It features Espresso Chip ice cream (I never had that flavor before), freshly homemade dark chocolate hot fudge, whipped cream and an Intense Dark Twilight Delight 72% Chocolate square. Of course, I'd get this sundae without the whipped cream, but I bet the coffee-chocolate combo is amazing! I'm especially curious to taste that Espresso Chip ice cream ... I bet it would remind me of that "Java Chip Frapp" that I like from Starbucks. "The Treasure Island Warm Brownie Sundae": I've gotten this sundae at another Ghirardelli store before, and I enjoyed it so much that I would totally order it again. It pairs a double chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and comes topped with freshly homemade hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped almonds and a cherry. I would get my sundae a bit plainer--no whip or cherry for me--but the double chocolate brownie featured in this dessert is one of my favorites. It's chewy, fudgy and super moist ... everything a brownie should be! And it tastes even better when completely covered with that luscious vanilla ice cream and gooey hot fudge. "The Ocean Beach Sea Salt Caramel Sundae": This sundae always sounded interesting to me, but I always hesitated getting it because I'm not sure if it would be too salty for my liking. It includes vanilla ice cream topped with creamy caramel, homemade hot fudge, sea salt, whipped cream and a Ghirardelli SQUARES Milk Chocolate.

I always buy the ghiradellis brand brownie mix when I bake homemade brownies cuz they're so delicious and then I put some vanilla ice cream on top. so that was what I was expecting when I ordered the brownie Sundae ... but the brownie in the Sundae tasted more like a rich fudge bar than a brownie. it was way too much and too rich for me. It was also crazy crowded busy and hard to find any place to sit and the wait was a while. but that was more a result of it being located in downtown Disney. the staff did the best they could to provide speedy service. My step brother ordered a small cookie dough ice cream and said that there was only one or two pieces of cookie dough. a little skimpy for his taste. TIP: I checked in and got $1 off my brownie Sundae.

Busy, and for good reason! This isn't something we'd do every day, but when on vacation, it is a nice little tree. The three kids (5,3, and 1), myself, and my wife all split a sunday that was around $11. In that way, it didn't work out to be too expensive per-person, and none of us got sick from a sugar overdose. We used the check-in offer on Yelp and saved 2 bucks. They were really confused by me showing them a coupon on my phone, but a manager eventually figured it out. It pays to check-in before eating anywhere!

We had for 9:45: Espresso Escape - Espresso Chip Ice Cream, Freshly homemade Dark Chocolate Hot Fudge, Whipped Cream and an Intense Dark Twilight Delight® 72% Chocolate It was really good. A lot of places just stick a whole bunch of sugar and fat into their desserts, but this one was not too sweet and delicious. This might be the best food product I had at Disney.

You know what they say about Disney, "It's a magical place where dreams come true." I dream about the Ghirardelli hot chocolate all the time, so every time I am in the Orlando area or visiting WDW, a trip to Downtown Disney is a MUST DO on our trip agenda to get my hot chocolate fix. Creamy, thick chocolate stirred to perfection that will drive your taste buds wild! Ice cream sundae's are a perfect compliment for a Florida hot summers day. Don't get intimidated with the long line because it goes by quickly. And don't get intimidated to smile back at the Ghirardelli workers... their chipper smiles are contagious (it's a Disney mousketeer SIN to not smile while on duty and it helps when you find out how much you have to pay for ice cream/hot chocolate/ shakes).

  • Karen S.

MUST DO when at Downtown Disney. Extremely overpriced....as you expect from this location. The brownie sundae was so good, I'm still thinking of it two days later. We made three trips to Downtown Disney during our vacation - and treated ourselves each time to Ghirardelli! It's divine.

Free chocolate samples. Great deserts. Very busy at night. Most deserts are about $10.

YOU HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ICE CREAM UNTIL YOU HAVE EATEN GHIRARDELLI ICE CREAM. This is going to sound ridiculous, but I named my experience my "luscious ice cream ecstasy sex extravaganza." Yeah, whatever. Judge me all you want. I don't care. I ordered the double scoop option (one scoop of Ghirardelli chocolate and one scoop of espresso chip) on a chocolate dipped sprinkles waffle cone. I usually never order chocolate ice cream because I dislike the phony chocolate flavor of most ice creams. Of course, the chocolate was a perfect choice at Ghirardelli... it had such a rich, genuine chocolate flavor. I adored it. The espresso chip was equally rich and delicious. I've never had such creamy, silky ice cream in my life. The waffle cone was another star. It was like a perfect chocolate dipped vanilla cookie. I broke pieces off and used it as a spoon for my ice cream. Seriously, I was in a trance the entire time I was eating my ice cream. I got it on my pants and all over my face, but I enjoyed every last second it. My boyfriend said I looked "hot" while eating because I was so messy. Hmmm... that's a compliment, right? Be warned: the double scoop in a waffle cone is huge. This was pretty much my lunch and satisfied me for about 6.5 hours. Mind you, I ate and ate the whole thing--which was the size of my head--until I felt sick.... IT WAS SO WORTH IT.

Kind of funny that I flew from the Bay Area to Orlando and the closest ice cream joint to our hotel was Ghirardelli. But I ain't mad! This spot delivers just like the original in SF. The brownie sundae is legit, especially if you step up and get cookie dough ice cream instead of vanilla. #boom. There is inside and outside seating. The seating isn't terribly large, but it's ice cream so it moves fairly quickly. I found seating where I wanted both times I went last week. The location is right in the heart of Downtown Disney, and with the construction going on right now, it's kind of tough to find parking. I would probably plan on taking a bus to DTD if you have access. Or, I did see some folks parking a few blocks away and walking in. Bottom line: Chances are you're in Orlando on vacation, taking your kids to who knows what park, the least you can do is treat yourself and your kids to some fantastic ice cream.

Ice cream and chocolate decadence. Incredible ice cream desserts. My wife always gets the hot fudge sundae and loves it. Very rich and chocolatey. Ghiradelli is where she wanted to have her birthday treat this year. On our last visit, I had the Sea Salt Caramel Banana Quake Shake on the recommendation of the cashier. The was one tasty shake. The perfect blend of salt and sweet. Recommended. I have also had the caramel sundae in the past and recommend it. Ghiradelli is THE place to stop before you leave Walt Disney World.

I am so glad I don't live near this place... This is my favorite place to get ice cream, save Kilwins on the "outside of the World". Strike It Rich is my all time fave, the hot fudge and butterscotch is served hit, but then mixes and firms into the most amazing decedent mixture!

  • Keziah T.

Expensive but worth it- after all, there are only two Ghirardelli's in the US. I had the banana split (Golden Gate) and it was fantastic. They put other fruit in it too, which was nice. The banana was fresh and THE FUDGE. It was so good. Of course the chocolate ice cream was the best. Service is great too!

What is there not to like about chocolate? Every time my wife and I come to the Downtown Disney we make it a point to stope by here and get their free sample of Ghiardelli chocolate and usually pick up a coffee or one of their delicious beverages. When I checked in here on Yelp!, there was a $1 off an ice cream sundae offer. Yeah boo-yah!! Can't go wrong!

If you lovr chocolate you will love this little chocolate nook. Sweet treat for downtown disney. Large variety of flavors for there famous chocolates. Friendly staff, free sample as you walk in the door! Whats not to love.

  • Curtis H.

I've been coming to this place for years, each time we come back for our Disney vacations. The line always seems like it's too long but, trust me the know how to get your ice cream to you quickly. My favorite is the dark chocolate Sunday with no whip cream, if you like dark chocolate this is the order for you!

  • Joe M.

Ice cream is amazing. Hands down there is nothing wrong here..well maybe that they pulled the peanut butter topping company wide, but the rest is awesome. Be patient it's a busy location, and they will bring it to your location. A little on the pricey side, but it's in downtown Disney. .what did you think you were going to pay.

Ice cream, chocolate, hot fudge. What else could you possibly want out of life????? The smell when walking by the store is intoxicating. The store is incredibly busy, but the staff is efficient at serving people. I went with a chocolate hot fudge sundae. The portion size for the price is fair. The chocolate is just incredible. My only small complaint is that the ice cream had some ice crystals in it. Do not forget to walk into the retail store attached to the shop and buy some chocolate to take home.

We visited the Ghirardelli ice cream shop in downtown Disney on a very hot summer day. The place was packed but we were ushered inside quickly and received our orders fast! The mint chocolate chip was very sweet and the Ghirardelli Chocolate was great with a slightly bitter l, higher quality chocolate taste. Loved it! Highly recommend!

  • Angela E.

The ice cream is amazing here. They have a big variety of sundaes which are all delicious. You also have the option of just purchasing a cone and scoop of ice cream, but why would you get that when there are so many tastier options? Be prepared to wait a long time. If you have multiple people in your party, have someone wait in line to order and the other person be on the lookout for a table and chairs. This place does not have nearly enough seating options, so it might be easier to get the ice cream to go and find seating elsewhere.

    (3)
  • Joel C.

The shop has some crazy long lines as you creep into the evening hours, but man, there are some delicious treats to be found here. They have an awesome variety of sundaes and some absolutely amazing root beer floats with some of the richest ice cream I've tasted. This is always a hit for the family as an evening treat while we make our way in or out of Downtown Disney.

  • Danyett L.

Of course this store is always packed because it's in downtown Disney but they have excellent candy. Be cautious to watch for sales that distract you from the real deals. For example....box of 9 minis at 6 for $20 vs $27.99 for 100 minis.

    (5)
  • True.foodie B.

Oh. My. Apple. Pie. This place is just the bomb. The atmosphere is "magical" (Disney never fails at this), the people are nice, the aroma is hypnotizing, and the ice cream is as close to perfect as you can get. Yes the lines are long and it's pricey, but the sizes are big, and the good service (along with the taste of the ice cream) is worth it. Get a number and take a seat, and disregard the crowds because there will be room if you wait a few mins. This place will always be one of my ultimate favorite spots.

Wow-talk about the most appetizing place to walk by in terms of smells. If we weren't heading to dinner then back to a park recently, we would have stopped right then and there, but were so intrigued, we made a special trip on the last night of our vacation. Reading the menu on line had us convinced to give it a try and my family of 4 ordered 3 different sundaes-the "World's Greatest", the Presidio Passion, and a Brownie Sundae. Each was a good size-not enormous, but the brownie was a fudge brownie and the hot fudge was incredible. Not cheap, but you're on vacation and this is as tasty of an ice cream experience that there is, so enjoy as we did!

Everytime I visit Orlando I always go here for the best ice cream experience, ever. What makes it the best you ask? It is the Ghirardelli hot chocolate fudge! Very delicious! I recommend that you pay a visit and enjoy their world famous ice cream!

  • Meredith R.

Such a delicious sundae and such great service! I had the Mint Bliss Sundae and my husband ordered the Brownie Sundae. Our initial server was very fast and polite and the man who brought our ice cream was the perfect guy to work there. He was like a soda shop clerk for the 1950's. Super friendly and happy and he was doing his best to entertain every person in the shop and to make sure everyone was satisfied with their orders. We devoured our giant sundaes because it would have been a shame to leave any delicious ice cream behind. We weren't able to eat all of the hot fudge because of the huge amount of it in each sundae, but that's not the kind of problem that bothers me. Definitely hit this place up if you love tasty ice cream!

    (5)
  • Jorge S.

Great ice cream shop but the prices have gotten crazy expensive. Scoops are big so take that into consideration when ordering. You can definitely split 2 scoops. The Cookie Bits Sundae brings 3 scoops and you can share with 3 people easily. Always get the hot fudge or hot caramel on the side when ordering sundaes so your ice cream does not melt. You will be ordering soup sundaes if not ordered on the side.

Just follow that sweet aroma of chocolate in Downtown Disney right into the Ghirardelli Shop. There you'll find a crowd of people and tons of every kind of CHOCOLATE! I even got a free square of peppermint Ghirardelli chocolate. If you don't find a package, bucket or assortment of chocolate for yourself, then please at least but one for someone else as a gift. It's the best! Next door you'll find their ice cream shop w/a seated area to enjoy your sundae or banana split. It's hard to refuse but sadly I did. As much as I would of loved to sit down for a sundae, the only part of it that Ghirardelli makes is the hot fudge and a brownie. The price is $10 for a medium plastic throw away cup. I just couldn't see spending that amount on a sundae. But a ton of other people didn't have a problem w/it and they were enjoying it! So go get your chocolate on when you're in DT Disney!

Excellent espresso sundae! And they gave a 10% discount for DVC members! Fast service and enough tables when we visited.

  • Erik H.

Just like San Francisco. Still very busy and you will have to wait a bit for your sundae at prime time hours but not nearly as long as in San Francisco. Waited about 15 minutes for a waffle bowl sundae and two milkshakes. If you want a faster experience my sense is that simply getting an I've cream cone gets served faster than the sundaes. Everything came out great. Why only 4 stars? The waffle cone was not fresh. It was pre-made and frozen so it did jot have that fresh taste. Not worth the extra $1.

    (4)
  • Scott B.

After a long hot morning in the sun, I really didn't want to pay $12 for a small 2 scoop sundae with just a dab of hot fudge, served in a cheap plastic cup. I dunno. Maybe I miss the old classic glass sundae dishes they used to serve their ice cream in. Or maybe it was that I had a far superior ice cream treat at Cold Stone Creamery the night before at a cheaper price. I wanted to give 4 stars, but this was just an average dessert at an above average price.

MMMM! Ice cream dreams! Ghirardelli is busy as always with lines out the door but everytime I visit a Disney establishment I must also visit Ghirardelli for my ice cream fix. The line moved pretty fast, the seating was abundant for all the patrons visiting. We opted for the seating inside since it was Florida muggy outside. Between 4 adults and 1 kid, we shared two ice cream sundaes. My favorite one was the caramel and chocolate sea salt sundae, the sweet and savory just go together so well. We also had the chocolate and strawberry sundae which was good, it was topped with a chocolate covered strawberry too. Of course they make them look pretty and you get what you pay for. I couldn't help but be nosy and look at the table next to us, they ordered the Earthquake, that thing is HUGE. One day I will order that!

We visited the day after Thanksgiving and wanted a sweet treat. It was crowded, but we were able to walk through the store quickly, were offered a square of their white chocolate peppermint flavor (which was pretty good considering I don't even care much for most white chocolate varieties) were able to get in line to order without waiting too long. I chose the drinking chocolate to help me warm up because it was unseasonably cold that night. It was very rich, thick, bittersweet, and perfect. It was smaller than the hot chocolate my mother-in-law ordered, but I think if it would have been bigger, it would have been too much.

Fantastic dessert. I had a banana split with 3 people. Very expensive. You will have to find someone to share with.

A trip to Downtown Disney isn't complete until we've had a sundae at Ghirardelli's. Even before walking in, the scent of sweetness is drawing you near. No wonder this is such a popular spot, but the line is worth the wait. We all tried something different and were equally ecstatic. From shakes, coffees, sundaes and especially their chocolate dipped waffle cones, you can't ever go wrong. This time I ordered a cone with a scoop of rocky road and java chip. The entrance right next door takes you to their chocolate shop where you can find more than your share of delicious chocolate squares. Love being greeted by the girl giving away mini squares as you walk in.

  • Lucia D.

I usually love this place. It's a must every time we are in downtown Disney. Free chocolate sample at entrance. They lose a star today for service. Service is always slow as they are always very busy with a long wait. Today not having a lot of time I wanted to stop and get a quick scoop of ice cream and hot chocolate. They call my number for the hot chocolate employee but it behind counter and walked away as it cooled down to go fill the machines and syrups never to get back to my order. I waited and waited and finally said I still didn't get my ice cream (she will be right with you). They were serving number 420 and I still wasn't served a scoop of ice cream #270. She finally gave it to me angrily. I must say it was hard to enjoy at this point.

Yum yum yumminess! It doesn't matter if it's 90 degrees or 30 degrees (yes, it does get that cold in Florida sometimes), I always stop at Ghirardelli when I'm at Downtown Disney. If you hit up the shop next door, they give you a free sample square of chocolate. Then head into the ice cream shop for your choice of an ice cream cone or the best sundae of your life, the way it's supposed to be! My personal favorite is the Cable Car, because I'm a huge fan of marshmallow (the gooey kind). Make sure of you order a sundae to bring a friend (or 2) to share it with. Those things are huge!

Check-in for that $1 discount! Who doesn't love ice cream!?! Desserts: 5/5 - delicious and creamy, a must for ice cream lovers Service: 4/5 - they were quick and as courteous as they could be when they are dealing with a tsunami of people.. I mean seriously. Location: 2/5 - packed, not many tables. A must stop when you are down at Downtown Disney but take your ice cream to go.

My favorite spot at downtown Disney. I could always smell it from outside. Brownie ice cream is my favorite.

  • Mitch K.

Ignore the $10 price for a sundae and just get one. I had the Gold Rush which is described this way: "Vanilla ice cream with freshly homemade hot fudge and melted peanut butter throughout, perfectly topped with whipped cream, chopped almonds, a cherry and a Ghirardelli Squares milk chocolate." It was 95 degrees outside so this sundae was a perfect way to cool off, and on the day I went I was able to quickly find a table. If you're ever shopping in Downtown Disney check it out!

    (5)
  • Eric G.

I saw a salted caramel banana milkshake on the menu and I couldn't resist. It was pretty good... nothing extraordinary though. The service was lacking. They totally forgot about my order (or gave it away) and I was waiting for awhile.

  • Alex H.

A perfect place for chocolate lovers, no? Even though it was really crowded when I came in, I was able to be seated without an issue at all. I had the Ultimate Chocolate Sundae, which was delicious! I actually recommend that to anyone who has the ultimate chocolate craving. ;) This whole place smelled like chocolate, and they even gave out some samples of their miniature chocolate pieces. They do have shelves, containing bags of their candy and their gift boxes. This store is a must-see for those who really love chocolate. :D

    (5)
  • Patti M.

It's a crowded place that serves it's customers with ruthless efficiency. You will barely have a moment to sit on their nice chairs before your bowl of fatness arrives. The prices are, well, pricy but the portions are decent. I had a peanut butter sundae and despite being full I sholeved it all in anyway because it was phenomenal. GNOM! They have a variety of sundaes so if you want to suffer the hell hole that is downtown Disney I recommend you partake.

If there is one thing I hate, its being corrected on pronunciation. Don't get me wrong, there are things that get me twisted up like Brasserie. What the hell type of word is that? I'm from Brooklyn and I've never seen a Brasserie on Flatbush Ave growing up. When my waitress says would you like dessert and I tell her later on we're going to "GEAR A DELI" and she says oh have fun at "GYRA DELI" I want to trip her when she comes back with my check. I went into the restaurant and asked the manager how to correctly pronounce the name and I was right! Friggin' French Canadians... And I'm saying GYRO not YEARROW. Too bad sucka! I love, LOVE this place. we've been coming here for years. *DVC Members get 10% off They have a dark chocolate sundae, soo rich and decadent. Yummmy!! My kids and wife order something that I just nod my head. I want my ice cream and I get in the zone when it comes to our table, the no sharing rules are now in place. The restaurant is split, to the left is ice cream and to the right is chocolate as well as free samples!! Just something to think about, if you buy chocolate and carry it around in the florida heat?? Its gonna be a mushy mess in less than one hour. Make your purchase and bootskoot back to your hotel where the air has been running full blast all day :)

  • Bunny N.

Amazing ice cream! I had ordered a single scoop of chocolate ice cream on a cone. I waited for a while for my order. Finally. My order number was called. They hand me a hugggggge ice cream cone with 2-3 scoops of ice cream. I repeat my number, "252?" The worker said, "Yes, 252!" Awesome, I got upgraded!! The only downside to this place is that it gets wicked busy, and there is not enough for everyone to be jammed packed in the area. Not enough seating inside and not enough space. But that's okay, because you're in Downtown Disney.... just walk around and enjoy!

    (4)
  • Julie H.

Went into the shop with the hopes of getting some ice cream and buying a few things. The lady who greeted us were really nice, but the cashier was really mean to my friend and I when we asked what she recommended. She was not happy to be there, and understandably it was probably a long day for her. It was hot too, but she had air conditioning so there really wasn't a reason to be rude when all we did was ask a question. We only ordered a drink because the reply we got from her really made us not in the mood to get anything else. The drink was alright, nothing special since I expected perfection from Ghirardelli and its chocolate.

Hands down, best chocolate shake I have ever had in my life! I checked in on Yelp and received an offer for $1 off a sundae and the woman at the register nicely gave me 10% off my shake instead. Can't wait to go again when I'm down in Florida in February.

Best sundaes at downtown disney, I really like that they have different flavors of chocolate sauce! Try some of their drinking chocolate if your in the mood for melted chocolate bars!

After a long morning at Nemour Children's Hospital what better way to satiate my chocolate cravings then to head over to Downtown Disney and consume some Ghirardelli. Parking in this area is a headache during the summer anyway, but currently they are doing construction and its an absolute mess. We finally found a parking spot way over by Pleasure Island. There seemed to be no breeze that day and the heat was taking my breath away. Wish Disney would consider putting some of those mist cooling systems around the area. It was worth the hike over to Ghirardelli -- when you walk in the building an employee hands you a piece of chocolate -- "Ding Ding -- Winner"! Looking around there is every different kind of chocolate you can imagine right at your finger tips. My daughter and I decided on the cool and refreshing "Nob Hill Chill" -- I died. More than a frothy milkshake, it's like an ice cream sundae you can sip! Two scoops of vanilla ice cream blended with their famous hot fudge and topped with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Diabetic Coma! It was the most delicious concoction I have ever tasted. So, if you are in Downtown Disney -- please stop by and try some of their delicious goodies. You will not be disappointed!

It was a warm day at Disney Marketplace, so I decided to stop in and get myself a cool treat! What can I say...Ghirardelli uses the finest ingredients, and my chocolate peanut butter-banana milkshake was heavenly!

I could literally smell the fresh chocolate getting off of the water-taxi near the TREX restaurant and gift shop. I knew I was in for it and so was my husband's wallet. We walked in and a delightful older gentleman said "welcome, your majesty" and hands me a piece of free peppermint chocolate. We almost became lovers. That's how awesome he was. They were having a wonderful deal right before Christmas. 80 pieces of mixed variety Ghiradelli chocolate for 25$. So naturally, I bought a bag and gifted them to my husband after eating every piece of caramel in the bag. Whoops. They also had an awesome little dining experience where you could order 35$ sundaes with 8 scoops of ice cream. (Nope, not lying!), milkshakes, chocolate-laced coffee, hot chocolate, chocolate milk, tea, ice cream (by the scoop), banana splits and huge chunks of ice cream with fresh pieces of their famous square chocolates inside. Do NOT pass this place up! I absolutely recommend the original caramel-filled square chocolates as they are amazing. This is a staple for us at Downtown Disney. Look for it near the Lego Store and Basin.

  • Andrea L.

Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop is a wonderful experience in Downtown Disney. Even though it was packed when I went in, I was able to come in, get a lot of Christmas gifts, get greeted with a free square of chocolate and order 2 heavenly chocolate drinks in an efficient manner. I was here a few days before Christmas so it was packed and this is to be expected, but I was very pleased to see how the staff was handling the crowd. To be honest, I could not help but to be so happy and entranced by the delicious smell of chocolate that was in the air. When I got to the checkout line I noticed that they served hot chocolate and that they actually mix Ghirardelli squares in their drinks instead of powders! Now tell me if that isn't magical! I ordered the sea salt caramel hot cocoa and if I could have that in an IV form then I would...it was utterly decadent and had the perfect balance of chocolate, milkiness and sea salt. DIVINE! Another great thing about Ghirardelli is that they are truly an all-American patriotic company and the cashier noticed my military ID in my wallet (of course she apologized if she came across as being creepy), and informed me that they do a military discount. How awesome is that? Great place to go if you're at Downtown Disney especially if you're a chocoholic!

    (5)
  • Erin N.

Yes, it's pricey, but you get what you pay for. The staff here is amazing, regardless of how crazy busy it is, they manage to get those sundaes out pretty fast. It's such a treat to go here and share a sundae with someone special.

  • Ben M.

Save room for dessert and stop by! Serving up delicious treats, mainly cold but you have your solid chocolate options and things like brownies. Ashley E. Our cashier was very friendly and quick to offer helpful suggestions - like heating up our brownie. My go to dessert place at downtown Disney.

    (4)
  • Victoria L.

Yea, it gets crazy packed but what do you expect? You are in chocolate heaven, what's better? Downtown Disney is a tourist attraction and it does get pretty busy and crowded. But you have to try some of this dessert! The menu is jam packed with different selections from ice cream to sea salt caramel hot cocoa. Employees always have a smile on their faces. Service may not be fast, but its definitely worth it when that big a$$ cup of rocky road ice cream topped with marshmellows, hot fudge and whip cream is sitting in front of you. It's a great way to end your day with something sweet and if your a chocolate lover.

  • Genevieve H.

Busy, but excellent food and the servers are generally wonderful. The cashier was very helpful and helped us find what we wanted to snack on and offered additional tips. The server was nice, although one was not on a previous trip. The table was slightly sticky, but it was to be expected during a busy period.

  • Kandace L.

Went on a Monday morning at 10:30. No wait, no line, empty tables. My only complaint isn't really a complaint: I ordered a single scoop, and received what looked like five or six standard-size scoops shoved onto a tiny cone. I don't even know how that's possible. But if you can't decide between a single or double scoop, get the single; that's a lot of ice cream.

    (5)
  • Anita A.

I have been coming to this Ghiradelli for many years. Unfortunately, the prices continue to go up and the amount of chocolate in the ice cream continue to go down. Tonight, we paid $9.95 for a ice cream sundae in a small plastic cup. Definitely not worth it!

Came to Orlando and it was FREEZING!! Weird weather that day, but good weather for hot chocolate! HOT CHOCOLATE Sea salt Caramel Hot Cocoa (4 stars): Love love love seat salt caramel so I had to have this. A little sweeter than regular hot chocolate, needed more sea salt caramel flavor though! But I still loved it. Classic Hot Chocolate (4 stars): So good! And when you sip up bits of half melted marshmallows you're in heaven. SERVICE (3 stars): We had 6 orders, and the lady that gave us our drinks didn't write what drink was what or give us drink holder, or any drink sleeves!! There was only 2 of us carrying 6 drinks...a sleeve would be nice so we didn't have to burn our hands off. Tried to call her back to get some and she disappeared. They were super busy so no one else is really just around to help you. You're basically shoulder to shoulder with people waiting in line to order and when you're waiting for your drink. At least when I took my first sip I was warm and happy.

Waiting for ice cream after paid and my little girl was pushed out of way by one of the waiters(Kelly)...confronted him about it and he just laughed wanted him to say sorry but he laughed again...talked to supervisor not much better...won't be going back there again

I live an hour away but this is where I go when I crave an Ice Cream Sundae! I usually try to get down here at least once a month. It is always very crowded...it is Downtown Disney after all. But the staff is always friendly and fast. It's around $10 for a sundae, but all of the ones I've had are worth every penny!! Prepare for the chocolate orgasm!!

Heard this place has great chocolate and walked in and was handed a free sample. I ate it and it was soft and creamy. The store had different chocolates but seemed to be the same few flavors in different packages. The prices were high and most packages were huge and heavy. I did end up buying a two small packages. As I walked out I noticed another entrance which looked more like a restaurant, but turned out it was an ordering line for ice cream. The prices were rather high, and since I can't eat ice cream I passed. But did see a lot of people seem to be crazy about this place and seem to be very popular.

Always a great place to stop in a check out the deals on chocolate. And if it's a cool day (ha!) their hit chocolate is really good! The best part is even if you end up not finding anything that you may want to purchase, when you first walk in you are greeted with a sample of chocolate - the samples change with the seasons normally. I've only ever gotten ice cream from the other side of the shop once I believe, but it was sooo much ice cream! When we're walking by the shop you can always look over (and smell!) the deliciousness that people are enjoying!

We love this place. Chocolates are superior, ice cream is great and we especially like their cafe mocha. The staff is always bubbly and there to help you. The store is clean. We come here every time we're at Downtown Disney.

Solidly average, not nearly worth $10 for a sundae ! But I'm sure kids love this place since the treats are nearly half whipped cream.

Average Ice cream and the waffle bowl was not fresh... But my toddler thoroughly enjoyed it. So what makes this a 4 star review?? CUSTOMER SERVICE. I would gladly go out of my way to frequent this establishment because of the awesome customer service I received from a cashier named Ashley. She was just a pleasure to deal with from the moment we met. I went to pay with my usaa bank card and she asked me if I was in the military and applied a military discount to the order. I can 100% factually say that this has NEVER happened at any other retailer I have visited and I have has the card for 5 years. I was shocked! And not only did she go above and beyond in that sense but it was also the most generous military discount I have ever received- 20%. Retailers do well to remember that customer service is what keeps us coming back. I don't care how good the food or product is, if I feel like you don't want to keep my business I won't be back. This was probably one of the best experiences I have had. Kudos ghirardelli!

Great place for chocolate, ice cream and hot coco. They even offer free samples....that's right....FREE SAMPLES.

This is the best ice cream I have ever had. Lines can be long but it is worth the wait. Located in downtown disney, it is not as busy during day time.

After spending a day walking through Downtown Disney, we popped into the Ghirardelli shop to try a few samples of Chocolate. The lines are long here, so you have to be very patient. yelp.com/biz_photos/ghir… Of course the samples trick worked on us....we had to have more. We waited in the long line to buy some of the new Intense Dark Chocolate...The Wife is a Dark Chocolate fan, so leaving empty handed was not an option. yelp.com/biz_photos/ghir… Return Factor - 90%

Ghirardelli is a must stop at Downtown Disney for all the right reasons, free chocolate, coffee and delicious desserts. We never pass up the opportunity to stop by when in Disney and this time was no different. The only problem is that the service has absolutely deteriorated. I go to Disney at least once a year for the last 20 years and I must say that the service at this location was very close to being horrible. While ordering my hot chocolate I asked for no whipped cream and the woman working the cash register literally rolled her eyes at me when I asked because she had to go back and input it. Then as I'm waiting for my order all the employees are having personal conversations that ended in a loud Shut Up by one of them. I think it's unacceptable for them to be carrying conversations while the store is full and much less using phrases such as "shut up". Food and drinks are amazing, but don't expect good service.

Had Sundae, Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate ice cream. All three tasted great. Not too sweet and not too bitter. Kids loved it. Great staff and service. Although it's packed, room to sit down inside or out and enjoy some great ice cream. The sweet aroma will entice you. Memorable time with kids. Will definitely stop by again during out next visit to Orlando. Be aware, it is a little pricey for ice cream but once you get a taste; you forget about how much you spent. Thanks Ghirardelli's.

Icecreams are great, 1 scoop is more then sufficient. The ordering system can use some attention, its not really synchronised with the guys who make the scoops

There are 2 sides to this shop. One for drinks like coffee (which they hand out a free sample) and the other for ice cream. The lines are huge and long. The ice cream however is really good. If you have a lot in your party they actually give you a sign to put on a table and they bring your ice cream to you. Inside or out. They take your order and you pay first before they give you a number on your receipt, then wait in another line till your number is call and they hand you your ice cream over the counter. We got a chocolate dipped waffle cone with chocolate ice cream, and espresso chip, and a cake cone with 2 scoops... $16. Pricy but well worth it. It took me forever to eat the waffle cone, not to mention messy! But oh so good. Especially the Espresso chip.

I love stopping by here when I am taking a stroll through The Market Place... They always give you a free sample of chocolate which is great when you've finished a meal and are walking it off. The chocolate shop side is great if you are looking for gifts for friends or just want to pick up something for yourself. If you have a sweet tooth the soda fountain side can cure it! So many choices to fit everyone's likes. Ice cream on a hot Florida day is great! I wish they had more seating outside to enjoy our ice cream. Because even though it's 95 degrees out I enjoy sitting down and taking my time eating ice cream not walking around licking it as fast as I can. Also on a cool Florida night, that's right it does get cool here in Florida, I enjoy having a cup of hot chocolate. They have a few choices to choose from which is nice. The inside seating fills up fast and the line is long just to order, but I don't mind. It's worth the wait. The smell wafting from this shop is so inciting that you can't help but stop by even if you are full already. Take time to stop by this delicious stop next time you are strolling through The Market Place you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful customer service and probably the best milkshake I've ever had. Not giving a five star review because I've only been here once and had one milkshake, but that one milkshake was definitely worth 4 stars. The elderly lady who greeted us does deserve five stars though!

We ordered the Hot Fudge and Sea Salt Caramel Sundae. They were ridiculously priced ($10+ each) and consisted of soft serve style ice cream in a flimsy plastic cup! Basically the same thing you get at McDonald's, only a little bigger with slightly better chocolate/fudge. Terribly disappointed and would never return.

Everything about this place is amazing! I purchased way too much delicious ice cream, and maybeee have gotten too many samples. Price is a bit steep for ice cream, but trust when I say that it is plentiful. I shared my bowl with another person and we both left more than satisfied.

This place gets really crowded but not as bad as the original San Francisco location. Ice cream on a hot day sure hits the spot. I got the Mint Bliss. You get a scoop of mint chocolate chip and a scoop of chocolate covered in dark chocolate hot fudge with a square of 72% chocolate. All topped with whipped cream. I like how the hot fudge and the cold ice cream go together. The flavor of the ice cream is very good. They take your order in the front and give you a number. You find your own table and they bring your ice cream to you when its ready. If you go into the retail chocolate store in the right half of the store you can get a free square of chocolate.

While I'm not the biggest fan of the chocolates you can buy in the grocery, I'm a huge fan of the ice cream shoppe. I don't go every time I'm in town, but when I want to indulge in a special treat, this is the first place on my list. The ice cream is rich & creamy. The whipped cream is perfectly light. The chocolate sauce is decadent. If I wasn't in public, I would lick the bowl clean. While I will admit I am a creature of habit and tend to lean towards the Espresso Escape, I have tried the other two Intense Dark Sundaes: Mint Bliss and Midnight Reverie. My eldest niece is a peanut butter fanatic and we've shared the peanut butter sundae as well. While I realize the focus is on the chocolate, I do sometimes wish there were more options for ice cream flavors. But I know this isn't a Baskin Robbins or Cold Stone, so rich dark chocolate will just have to do.

This place has great ice cream and lots of seating. I normally love this place but the last time I went I saw an employee go to the bathroom and leave without washing her hands. I walked out of the restroom only moments after to see her going straight from the bathroom to the serving counters handling customers ice creams without gloves or washing her hands. I was disgusted and left. The food may taste good but they need to work on sanitation and employees following health code. I give 2 stars because the food is good and I am unsure whether it is out of the normal or not. Regardless I hope this problem is addressed.

I visited Ghirardelli after a disappointing meal at T-Rex at Downtown Disney on a recent Sunday afternoon. Thank you for the pick me up! I ordered the Cookie Bottom Sundae, which featured, surprise, a Cookie on the bottom, vanilla Ice cream on top, with hot fudge, whipped cream, almonds, and a cherry. It was very good, and it better be, for 8.95! Looking back on my choice, I was disappointed. I felt rushed to make a decision, even though there was no line behind me. If I were to do it again (which I will in the next 18-24 months), I would eat in the restaurant, (I got mine to go; I think you might get more if you eat in the restaurant during downtime, but I'm not sure), and I'd order a sublime sunday, or get a waffle cone. I saw 3 people walking around with cones after I'd finished my sundae, and I'll admit, I was jealous! I almost went back and got some more, but I didn't want to be a fatty, even though I regret it. I will definitely be back! This is a 5 star product with 3 star prices... 9 dollars for a half cookie and ice cream, come on! But it's better than any other ice cream I had while at Disney!

Make sure you "check in" on your yelp app to receive a $1 off coupon!! The place was insanely packed but the line moved so fast I wasn't ready to order so I just got a traditional sundae. Indoors was an absolute zoo so we had it delivered to a table outside. It was spring break so it was packed but we did find a table. It took maybe 10 minutes to get but it was worth it. Super rich and sweet so I didn't finish it. If I go back I will make sure to review the menu better before standing in line.

Crazy busy but totally worth it! Went twice in two days. Got a salted caramel chocolate banana shake the first time and a chocolate dipped waffle cone with one scoop of chocolate and one scoop of black cherry vanilla the second time. I wish there was a store near me on Long Island! Always make it a priority to stop here when in Orlando!

  • Sandy H.

I have been here a few times and this place is always busy. You order and pay at the cash register first, then wait for your number to be called. There is outdoor seating, but I usually get mine to go so I dont have to wait for a table to open up. This time I ordered a Chocolate Strawberry Sundae for about $10. It was a generous amount of creamy vanilla ice cream saturated with strawberry syrup and hot fudge. On top was a huge pile of whipped cream and four cherries. It looked like a bit of a melted mess in the large plastic cup, but it tasted delightful. Last time I shared a Banana Split which looked and tasted great. Their rich chocolate ice cream mixes so well with the other ingredients.

  • Lisa N.

YUM. So many choices, so little stomach space! We tried the Mint Sundae and it was amazing. It's pretty big, so I'm glad I shared it with my boyfriend. Prepare for long lines and long wait times because this place is very popular! But the friendly service and quality chocolate make up for it =)

When you work at a chocolate and ice cream shop IN Downtown Disney, you'd think that a smile is just like, a freebie. WRONG. My cousin and I encountered a pretty nasty, rude lady when we went to ask if our order was ready (after waiting quite awhile with our number on our table outside). She glared at us, then snarled "we're working on it." Okay thanks... ...... Otherwise it's a nice cool treat if you want a place to unwind after walking around Downtown Disney. But I'd rather go to one of the more special Disney ice cream shops, like Beaches & Cream (and if you have a lot of people, split the Kitchen Sink Sundae!). After all, you're in Disney World, and when in DW, do as the ..cartoon characters do?

    (3)
  • Chiqui C.

This place is really good. The site is beautiful and usually the employees are like Disney should be, attentive. The products are high quality, and the hot cocoa is great. In general, I've tried much better chocolatiers. Even though, is nice to go, because there is nothing better in the area. Other desserts looks perfect, next time I will have an ice cream.

  • Bradley H.

Yes, this place is awesome! I live in SF and go all the way to Florida and end up eating dessert at a Ghirardelli shop...but if i were in SF, i'd do the same! I love the chocolate sundaes to the point of addiction, and this place never disappoints--in SF or FLA. All the sundaes are shareable for two and the ice creams are super creamy to the point of being too creamy and too rich...and i probably have as big a sweet tooth as anyone. If you want something even richer, try a brownie with it as well to top off the sugar bomb. So go big or go home at this ice cream shop...there aren't many shops like this around anymore. Happy Eating!

while in downtown disney looking for a place to eat for lunch i passed this place and knew i'd have to come back to get some ice cream afterwards. i got the mint bliss sundae and it was as good as it gets! perfect combination of flavors and not too sweet with the dark chocolate.

Love the location and ice cream isn't bad..same as other locations. It gets pretty packed though. I would suggest having one person order and another finding a table.

  • Kristine D.

This place is PACKED! It's Ghirardelli, it's Downtown Disney, what do you expect? Depending on when you're visiting, you may have to wait just to put your order in and finding a table can be troublesome as well. All that aside, it's still worth the visit. Orders are delivered to your table fairly quickly and people are in and out so it's not impossible to find a table. They've got a great selection of sundaes, parfaits, and milkshakes. They will also swap out vanilla ice cream for chocolate or peanut butter sauce for hot fudge, so really you're only limited by your imagination!

  • Stacy D.

Oh my gosh this place was sooooo good! You have to get dessert here if you are in Orlando. It is in a great location in Downtown Disney. We had a brownie hot fudge sundae that was delicious. There were so many yummy choices to pick from we didn't know which one to choose! The small chocolates you can buy are also sooo good. Definitely recommend going to Ghiradelli's....you will LOVE it!!!

  • Belly G.

I love sweets! There's no doubt about it. I love cookies, ice cream, frozen yogurt, cakes, churros, everything that's sweet!!! I'd been to downtown Disney a long time ago, and I remember going to Ghirardelli and I loved it! That's why I had to go to Ghirardelli when I was in Las Vegas; And now that I was back in Orlando and I was staying fairly close to Disney World, I had to get my Ghirardelli fix! Maybe because it's close to the end of summer, but every time I went to Ghirardelli, there was never any long lines. Maybe two or three people in front of me at any given point. Then again, maybe because I always went during the week and not on the weekends so there wasn't as many people there. Anyway, I'm just going to be short with my review and let me just tell you that everything I tried here was super duper good. I tried the milkshake, hot fudge sundae, and banana split. I was never disappointed. If you're ever in downtown Disney, swing by this place. Get out of the heat and get some tasty, sweet, yummy, chocolatey frozen treat. You won't be disappointed. The prices here won't break the bank either. EDIT: I went to the chocolate shop but didn't buy anything. So I can't really speak of the prices there. They did give me a couple of free samples, though.

This place screams obesity epidemic. We came here after dinner one night for desserts and I was mortified. Too much sweets and just way too much food. Cardinal sin of gluttony in progress here. My friend and I shared a salted caramel hot coca ($4.25). Very decadent hot cocoa, with way too much whipped cream. Only come here after a long period of fasting or you plan on running a marathon the next day.

It's Ghirardhelli I mean c'mon... Now forget what you know or think about Ghirardhelli, because one can;t really experience or judge Ghirardhelli for what it is unless you've been to one of the real shops. While the chocolate one may find in a market or store is by no means bad its does not do the real thing justice, for one the limited availability is unfortunate and of course the processing or timeline of the chocolate in these situation is always older. However when one visits a real Ghirardhell shop this is not the case in addition to nearly every chocolate in their repertoire serves an ice cream shop/confectionery. Most of which are always made fresh From the hot chocolate and other drinks or the chocolate dipped items while indeed decdnt are typically worth it. Even of one doesn't plan on stopping by Ghirardhelli the wafting smell of cocoa will lure you in. Unfortunately As much as one might like to get their hands on some chocolate this might be more difficult than you would expect. For the entrance and chocolate shop is not only small but there is now flow in the way customers move. In addition it connects directly to the ice cream and confectionery there is very little room between everything as though t were crammed together. Lastly every time I visited here as i worked at Disney for six months, the sample was always the same milk chocolate and caramel which really bothered me one i hate milk chocolate two change it up a bit. Nonetheless its Ghiarardhelli and is well worth a visit especially for those with a sweet tooth

While walking through downtown Disney this weekend, I decided a quick and caffeinated treat was needed. Ordered up a large iced Caramel Latte for $6.34 ($5.95 plus taxes). As much as I enjoyed the drink, I missed out on the caramel on the bottom of the glass since the straw just didn't pick it up. The cream topping was divine!

What more needs to be said other than delicious ice cream and free chocolate samples? It's a good place to get off your feet after fighting the crowds shopping at Downtown Disney. The ice cream is cold, creamy, and delicious. The chocolates are smooth and melt in your mouth. Free samples of their chocolate and caramel squares are always handed out here. Walk in as many times as you want to pick up extra samples to placate your inner piggy! The ice cream sundaes are really good here, large enough to share, and I especially love it with the marshmallow and caramel sauce toppings! Just let the lure of the chocolate aroma from the front door lure you in. The lines move quick and there is a lot of seating.

  • Kevin C.

A must stop while at Downtown Disney if you love chocolate and ice cream! We always stop in for the free chocolate sample in the store and whenever we have out of town guest we stop for ice cream. Have tried the banana split and many of the various sundaes, never disappointed yet! Seating is limited there is some in the shop, right outside, and across the walk near the water, however on crowded days these areas can be full.

This Ghirardelli is located fairly close to the entrance of Downtown Disney. While in Florida, we came to Downtown Disney practically every night. There are so many things to do and look at here. One day, it was so cold, that we decided we would get the world famous ice cream sundae to share. This store has two seperate entrances. One is the actual store where they sell goodies such as candy and souvenirs. There is also a counter where you can purchase chocolate drinks. The other entrance is for the sit down portion of this dessert place. This is the first time I have ever tried anything inside Ghirardelli. We ordered, and paid at the cashier and were given a very sticky rod with our number on top, thus allowing the server to bring us our sundae when it was ready. The sundae was really sweet, maybe too sweet? There was a tad bit too much fudge, and not enough ice cream. The fudge was heavy and thick. I probably liked the ice cream the most. I do not really like nuts in my ice cream, so they were an unpleasant nuisance. I would give this place 3 stars. It was not mouth watering, nor was it horrible. I would say it is a good way to end the night.

Amazing ice cream!!! But cashier lady was super rude to me because I didn't want fudge. Kept staring asking me very awkwardly. No I don't want fudge. Can you just ring that up? Gosh.

I love Gharadelli chocolate (it's the only kind I will buy) But I was very disappointed by their "hot" beverages at Downtown Disney. We ordered a cappuccino, cafe latte, and hot cocoa. The cappuccino was eh, ok. The Cafe Latte tasted like warm milk and had a funny (not pleasant smell) and the hot cocoa was luke warm at best.

The ice cream is fantastic, but the line management is just abysmal. It used to have a single line leading to several cashiers and it worked much like in a bank. When you got to the front of the line you waited for the next cashier to be available and went to them. And you had a little time while waiting in line to review the menu, which you picked up at the start of the line. Now there are several aisles, each with two cashiers. There didn't seem to be any sort of lines, just small groups reviewing menus. The cashiers in the second position in each aisle kept calling for people to step forward, which proved difficult because you had to squeeze past the customers who were placing orders with the cashiers in the first position. I've been to some of the other locations (Las Vegas, San Francisco and Chicago) and hope the company doesn't ruin those by making this same change to the ordering process.

So many reviews already posted... what else can I really say other than I LOVE this place! If you are at Downtown Disney, you absolutely MUST stop here and have a sundae at least once! Yes, it is ridiculously expensive, just like everything else at Disney, but the yummy goodness is SO worth every penny you will spend here!! For children, ice cream is ice cream. For an adult, this place is pure Heaven on Earth!

Ghirardelli.... I was a little impatient due to the long lines. But, given that it's in the midst of downtown Disney, that's expected. I just it a vanilla shake...so good!!!!!! Of course, it's a little pricey. But what made the wait bearable is that they give out free sample of chocolate. I tried the almond sea salt chocolate. So tasty!!! The only downer is that they cut open the wrapper so you can't take any sample home with you.. Smart!!

  • Lissete D.

Who goes to Ghrardelli's and does not order anything with chocolate?? Unfortunately, I am guilty of this. My weird husband does not care for chocolate and since I cannot eat an entire sundae by myself, I had to compromise. The line was long but moved pretty quickly. After we placed our order, we found a table inside and our sundae arrived within 5 minutes. The sundae was good, not spectacular and I definitely missed the chocolate. Warning, there are several gum ball size chocolate covered blueberries mixed in the sundae that could easily be swallowed if you're not careful. Especially if you are a child. You're at Disney, so expect Disney prices.

What can I say that hasn't been said? This place is divine. If you love ice cream, and I know you do... you must buzz on over. The ice cream sundaes are fab-u-lous! The hot fudge (especially the dark chocolate) is wonderful. Share a sundae with someone you love, or bring your family and get the big 10-scoop sundae. Yum. On a separate visit you may want to try the hot cocoa bar. Also terribly delicious, and a free bit of chocolate as well. So good ... wish there was one in Phoenix!

Outside is a lovely scent of waffle cones and chocolate. When you walk in, you're greeted by free samples from friendly staff. Yes there usually is a line. Yes it's usually out the door. Yes, you should wait. It moves fast anyway. The gentleman greeted me with "hello princess!" As a woman in my 30s, I quite enjoyed that touch of Disney. While we waited, they made some friendly conversation with us and the other guests which was nice. But the ice cream and the chocolate...oh my gosh! It's so rich and decadent. Two of us got a medium and that was a mistake. One medium could have satisfied both of us. It was so good, so sweet and sooo rich. Go and enjoy your dessert but split it with someone.

It was a little after 11 a.m. EST when my daughter and I strolled in here. We ordered a single scoop of cookies and cream. I had the Americano. We sat down and waited only a couple of minutes. The serving size was surprisingly huge. The ice cream was delicious. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun. It was perfect.

This was a high point of our meals in Downtown Disney. The service is super fast. The ice cream was very fresh and good. The hubby had a chocolate thick shake (good, but who orders a shake at an ice cream shop like this???) Daughter one had a vanilla sundae with fudge. Daughter two had a scoop of vanilla ice cream (what do you want, she is 18 months old!!) I had the rocky road shake and it was YUM! At the end of the day, everyone feasted on my sundae. It was that good!

Very very busy, but worth the wait. They're brownie sundae is one of the best I've had. They're hot chocolate is okay (I prefer mine sweeter). When you walk in they hand you a free chocolate (can't beat that). Overall, great ice cream, shakes, etc.

I love walking into the chocolate shop during the holidays and collecting a free piece of their delicious peppermint bark. Soooo good! Right after me, there was a line of 8 people that came in, grabbed their free piece and walked out the door in a circle. It was pretty comical. The poor girl handing out the chocolates gave up even trying to greet them as they were coming in so fast. I took the time to eyeball the peppermint bark and may be back to purchase once I figure out if I've totally blown my budget. I took off one star because the store is too small. There's not much room to move around freely during busy times. Cast Members get a 20% discount.

Can we say creamy, cold, chocolate, heaven on earth? YES! I think I just did. Every time I go to downtown Disney this is a MUST stop on my agenda!!! I absolutely adore the smell when you first walk in and I love seeing all the little kids with huge smiles and dirty faces - just covered in everything YUMMO! (I think i am going to copyright this word - i will be the Paris Hilton of describing food) My go to, of course, is the Hot Fudge Sundae - my mouth is literally watering right now for this and I haven't even had breakfast today. I wish there was a little more seating outside - I mean it's Florida...we can sit outside 98.7% of the time! But I don't mind sitting in the theater across the way and people watching, so fun! Also, everyone here is dressed in old time diner attire so that is cool, gives an old time soda shop feel. Overall, I think this is one of my favorite places in downtown disney, even though it's a chain, we don't have many of them here and I think it's a pleasant sprinkle of yummo-ness to one of our tourist attractions!

By far the best ice cream shop I've ever been to. If you're in or near downtown Disney I strongly recommend coming here for a treat or dessert. You won't be disappointed!

A must visit place for ice cream and chocolate lovers in Downtown Disney. They have a large selection of sundaes and several flavors to whip up your own concoction. At peak times, it can be a circus but if you plan around those crazy hours, you can enjoy at leisure. I tried the Espresso Escape Sundae and it was "sin-sationally" delicious. Espresso chip ice cream with dark chocolate and hot fudge, what a rich creamy tasty treat! Something this good deserved a second visit. This time, i chose my own ice cream, with toppings (fudge, chocolate chips, almonds among others). All the ingredients were top notch from the ice cream to the chocolate and the fudge. One of the best ice cream places out there. What a way to arouse the taste buds. Enjoy the debauchery.

Life is all about expectations. We all have them and the question is "are those expectations met or are they not?" In season, I won't go anywhere near Ghirardelli, but in the offseason, absolutely. The product is consistent as are the long lines at peak times (in season, every hour is peak time ). For the most part, the staff is friendly and helpful. The star is of course, the hot fudge. You cannot go wrong with the original hot fudge sundae. Just make sure to grab extra napkins

The only real bad thing I can say about this place is if your driving good luck finding a spot for Down town disney, I always find it easier to park across the street by the casting building and crossing the street rather than fighting to find a parking spot because sometimes you can drive in circles for over half an hour. There is very little seating actually around the ice cream shop so it is best to just go ahead and have it taken to go, and find your own seating some where around the vicinity. Now for the best parts, who does not love chocolate and ice cream? I love this shop because my husband and I always get the Gold rush Peanut butter chocolate ice cream with a substitute of dark chocolate syrup rather than milk because dark is our favorite! now they also came out with a newer one that is a salted caramel chocolate sundae which is really amazing as well, and if you get them to add a brownie watch out it is delicious! Now if you go to the other side of the shop where they sell the candies and give out coffee and hot chocolate is really good, they always offer samples, and of course my favorite is the pumpkin truffles they have during the fall season! The hot chocolate is really good as well that you can get, the coffee drinks aren't my favorite much rather prefer a frappucinno from Starbucks!

If you're in Downtown Disney, you need to get chocolate wasted!! I've only had their hot chocolate and their salted caramel hot chocolate since I visited during the winter time.. it was amazeballs. I believe a cup ranged somewhere around $3-5. Not surprising being located in the center of Downtown Disney and having name GHIRADELLI branded on the cup.

Although Ghirardelli is synonymous with San Francisco, it's nice to see that it has made its way over to Orlando with all of its chocolate and frozen delicacies in tow. Given its location at Downtown Disney, the lines get quite long, especially on hot summer evenings. The first time I stopped in, I was in the mood for a milkshake, so I settled on vanilla. The following night, since my roommate had a hankering for Ghirardelli after seeing my milkshake cup in our trash bin, we returned, and we each got ice cream; this time around, I got a scoop of strawberry cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries and my roommate settled on a cookie bottom sundae. We definitely left satisfied! It's nice to have a taste of San Francisco here in Orlando.

Just like my beloved shop in San Francisco...I can't tell you how excited I was when I found out that we were staying within walking distance. HEAVEN. Every night we would grab dinner and then end with a Nob Hill Chill. It makes me smile just thinking about it :-)

The freshly baked waffle aroma got me walking towards ghirardelli unknowingly. got the sundae with dark chocolate fudge in the waffle bowl and shared it with a friend. SO GOOD!!! Extremely personable and friendly service. The store gives out chocolate samples all the time. Go get a taste of ghirardelli!

This is an awesome store. They give you big free samples of chocolate as soon as you walk in. Chocolate is everywhere you look. The milkshakes are delicious.

Everytime I go home to FL, I always end up here. The smell of the chocolate is amazing and I love how they give free chocolate squares. I cannot say no to their chocolate covered strawberries. Although they're $3 each, I still buy a few. I did not like their drinking chocolate... it was too rich for me. I should've just stuck with the normal hot cocoa. Their coffee is great though.

  • Jackie T.

Sooooooo yummy! One of the few soda fountain shops around. The ice cream sundaes are amazing, topped with ghirardelli chocolate syrup, shavings, and more! If you're not into sundaes, give their soda floats a shot. This place is a must go!

  • Keith R.

My family loves the Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco store and have gone there for 30 years. Expensive but delicious ice cream. At the Downtown Disney store, I discovered I could have one scoop with hot fudge for just $4.95 vs a full sundae for $8.95 - quite a bargain and you don't then have to say "No cherry or whipped cream, please."

This experience, for me, was confusing. I LOVE ICE CREAM AND CHOCOLATE. I also love all things Ghiradelli, so when we saw a sign for this shop, we were floored! The ordering system is...confusing at best. Because of the crowds and unclear set-up, we stood there in line like fools for about 5 minutes. When we finally decided what we wanted and went to order, we politely asked the cashier how this works. It wasn't clear if we stood around and waited, or if we sat down and were served, or really, what the heck was going on. The woman looked at us like we were the stupidest people she'd ever seen and barked at us that we had to order and then sit down, but we'd be SO lucky to get seats in this crowd so don't count on it! UM really? Not a magical experience. The ice cream ended up being delicious, but come on. RUDENESS in the middle of Disney? Seriously? Not sure I'd want to come back and deal with that again...

Hard not to love this place, except that it can get a bit crowded at times. We tend to wrap up every Disney vacay with a trip to Ghirardelli. This time it was a Strawberry Milkshake for my husband and a small scoop of Cookies n Cream topped with Ghirardelli Hot Fudge for me and both were fantastic!!! It was nice and warm this trip, but they're hot chocolate is excellent as well, great to grab and stroll around the Downtown Disney Marketplace with. When it comes to ice cream and chocolate you just don't get much better than this!

YUM!!!! I definitely think they should put up a Ghirardelli by my apartment. The best white chocolate mocha ever. My mom and I like this place so much, that we visited every day until the end of our trip. Their ice cream is delicious. Did I mention the White Chocolate Mocha?!?! This place definitely gets crowded but well worth the wait. Don't forget your free piece of chocolate when you walk in.....ok....and maybe on your way out too!

My fiancé and I stopped by here on a whim, and I am so glad we did. We were exhausted from walking around Animal Kingdom & Downtown Disney all day, so we decided it was time for a treat. It was super busy, so we placed our order & waited in the mob for our hot chocolates to come up. The place was pretty small, so we were all kind of uncomfortably crammed wherever there was room. When we finally received our hot chocolates it was worth the wait...it was the most amazing hot chocolate we've ever had! It was delicious!

This place is GREAT. Everytime I come here I just want something new, and their menu is so big that I spend forever trying to decide what I want, but no matter what I know that it will be good because of how WELL they bring you their selections. Service is great and the place has an overall happy atmosphere to it.

Always good to cruise by and snatch a free sample, but if you decide to stop in for a sweet treat, it is well worth it. You'll always see a bit of a hustle as fresh stuff is always popping out of the kitchen. There are bags of candy to buy and take home as souvenirs, but screw that, I'm into instant gratification, so I usually enjoy a hot chocolate (which is the best you'll probably ever have) or an ice cream sundae with plenty of hot fudge. These guys know chocolate, so let them indulge you.

GREAT Ice Cream and shakes. A little bit expensive but the quality of ice cream is EXCELLENT and remember you are in Downtown Disney. All the ice creams and shake a large size. Two people can eat from any ice cream selection. The inside lobby is small and the table are small. I suggest you send a family member to get a table while another person is placing the order. If all tables are full you can still sit at tables near the stage or walkway near the lake.

Indulgence saiz it all............. I don't usually stop for ice cream these days, don't even bring it in to the house...............but EVERY time I am in Downtown Disney I have to stop at this Ice Cream shop!! I love the Fudge Sundays and Carmelo Sundays. They make an amazing fudge brownie desert that has hot fudge all over it!! There are a variety of Milk shakes that one might like to try. I do think the best thing on the menu is the banana split it is amazing!! Ghirardelli is the most wonderful place to enjoy a frozen treat. There is something for everyone. Hot coco on a cool night. Frozen treat on a hot one!! This place is always packed there is always a race to get a seat and get a place in line. Yet you always get a chair and always get to order in a reasonable amount of time. Def stop by if in Orlando Downtown Disney area this is the number one desert stop in Orlando for sure!!

It just got cold the other day in Orlando, so I went to Downtown Disney with my girl to introduce her to one of the great Orlando experiences: hot chocolate from Ghirardelli while sitting lakeside in Downtown Disney while it's cold. It was just as good as last year. Love that hot chocolate. Love the cold weather. Sometimes.

This is a great place to stop and rest your feet after walking around Downtown Disney. We came here on one hot afternoon. The place was packed. The servers there hardly had enough time to clean up some of the tables. There were tables outside, but I can't imagine eating ice cream outside in 90 degree heat. Everyone else who did had their ice cream cones melt all over their hands. My cookies and cream ice cream with dark chocolate hot fudge was out of this world!

Who doesn't love chocolate, especially free chocolate? Strolling by Ghirardelli's on the Disney Boardwalk is always the highlight of my trip there because of the free chocolate square you'll get to sample. If you've never tasted G's"s you are missing out big time. This chocolate melts in your mouth in a way no other chocolate can. I prefer the caramel filled, smooth and creamy. Best I've tasted. Inside they have chocolate bars and bites for sale of every size, combination, and flavor their chocolate creators could imagine. If you need a gift for someone special this would be the place to get it. And they even have hot chocolate to enjoy on a brisk Orlando day that is every bit as scrumptious as their solid versions. Ghirardelli's is something special and a definite sweet spot on the Disney Boardwalk.

Home of the greatest brownie sundae in the history of the world. I know ice cream and this place has great ice cream and in sundae form with their fresh brownies and homemade hot fudge. I was seriously shocked. If they had one of these bad boys in Arizona I would probably eat myself in an early grave. Ghirardelli Chocolate is located right by the water so it has a great atmosphere on top of the great ice cream.

I only ordered a hot chocolate but man did I get a good impression from just that simple order. The registers are there just as you enter, and although there were tons of people my order was taken quickly. And I kid you not, as I was getting handed my change they called my name from the pickup place. I know it was just a chocolate, but even Starbucks isn't that fast. And yeah, the hot chocolate is probably as good as it gets.

  • This is a two in one experience - chocolate shop on one side, and ice cream parlour on the other side. The ice cream is incredible - they have fabulous sundaes, brilliant for sharing on a hot Florida day. They have a huge variety of flavours available. On the other side is the chocolate shop. The chocolate here is delicious - really high quality and melts in the mouth. When you walk in the shop there is usually someone handing out chocolate squares for free. They have a variety of fillings, and the packs of chocolate squares are delicious, my favourites being the caramel or peanut butter.

This store is really small with a small selection. But of course the deserts they make there are from their own chocolate, which is decent. I've had much better chocolate in my day, but their chocolate is fairly decent for main stream stuff in America.

    (4)
  • Anthony A.

  • Michael L.

  • Debra E.

  • Patty W.

The smell is what brought us here. There is nothing like the smell of waffle cones. Lordy, lordy. We got a white chocolate mocha and it was right on the lines with Starbucks. Perfect! The lines are long, but it was worth the wait.

  • Benjamin M.

    (3)
  • Malden G.

  • Maureen L.

The ice cream, coffee and hot chocolate is very good, but this place is definitely pricey. When it comes to the ice cream, even the kids' sizes are pretty big.

    (5)

    (5)

Delicious ice cream. Ask for the Fog Horn, not on the menu, but my favorite. You can eat inside or outside across the way.

    (4)

    (5)
  • Harry E.

Had an outstanding chocolate shake here. Wasn't cheap; but hardly anything in Disney World ever is. So I'm OK with that. My problem was that I had to wait forever for it, even though it wasn't crowded. Hence "only" the 4 star rating.

    (4)

    (2)

    (3)

The sundaes are delicious. a very efficient process to move customers through quickly. Seating is limited and can be difficult to find a spot. We ended up finding a seat on some planters outside.

I love the vanilla ice cream and coffee there. Huge portion sundae~ but I almost finish them all I wish Ghirardelli would open a store in NY soon

Expensive and a bit busy, but worth it. Not many places make their style of ice cream, it's a good place for a quick eat (and it fills you up too). But being in Florida you have to eat it quick before it melts!

    (4)

MUST DO when at Downtown Disney. Extremely overpriced....as you expect from this location. The brownie sundae was so good, I'm still thinking of it two days later. We made three trips to Downtown Disney during our vacation - and treated ourselves each time to Ghirardelli! It's divine.

I've been coming to this place for years, each time we come back for our Disney vacations. The line always seems like it's too long but, trust me the know how to get your ice cream to you quickly. My favorite is the dark chocolate Sunday with no whip cream, if you like dark chocolate this is the order for you!

    (5)

  • Kelly W.

  • Vicky L.

    (5)

  • Jorge C.

  • Widnelly C.

Very very busy, but worth the wait. They're brownie sundae is one of the best I've had. They're hot chocolate is okay (I prefer mine sweeter). When you walk in they hand you a free chocolate (can't beat that). Overall, great ice cream, shakes, etc.

  • Greg P.
